Rants & Raves

Comments from readers:

SOMEONE, PLEASE drag the remains of that old paddle wheel into a viewing area. It’s a wonderful example of history that needs to be saved and not waste away in the weeds.

I WOULD TRULY LOVE to see J.D. Paugh’s helmet, etc. put somewhere secure that could be viewed by people who knew him and people who wished they had. Shot 13 times, he still managed to get off three shots, one that wounded the shooter and probably led to his suicide. Also please put his name in for the national officer of the year award.

THE GOVERNMENT IS messing with the weather to keep our attention off other things. Massive fires, tornadoes, 19 hurricanes but not one made landfall, snow and flooding. They have a machine in Alaska that controls the jet stream. I wonder what they are up to.

THE JACKSON FAMILY is so money hungry that they are going to auction off Michael’s death bed.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to the staff of The Augusta Chronicle, and thank you for the fine job you do.

HEY, RCSD, take a look at all of the traffic problems caused by Woodlawn day-care parents turning left onto Milledge from Walton Way right underneath the no left turn sign. Enforce the law.

TO THOSE HEARTBROKEN this Thanksgiving I say to look up. God can make a better way.

A RANT TO MY neighbor who plays a boom box 24/7 in or around my subdivision in Grovetown. I can’t tell where it is coming from, but it vibrates into my home and we can’t sleep at night.

YOUR EDITORIAL calls the Augusta government “the gross dysfunction.” Fred Russell has been the man in charge. How can Russell be a “steadying influence” while on his watch gross dysfunction reigned?

WHY SHOULD SMOKERS get taxpayer help? They chose to start smoking. The taxpayers didn’t force that on them.

A RAVE TO THOSE RCS teachers and other staff who work hard every day to help Richmond County kids prepare for their adulthoods.

IT IS TIME FOR Hatney, Mason and Johnson to stop acting like petulant little children and to provide some leadership for their constituents.

To the person ranting about

To the person ranting about RCSO Deputies not properly placeing enough enforcement in one area to cover individuals making improper left turns...

Are you serious.....

Lets see.....The RCSO....

- Over 40 Deputy positions cut by the Commissoners in the past couple of years.

- Salaries that are so poor combined with lack of benefits, no pay raises for any college, past law enforcement experience or law enforcement training that they can't even fill the over 30 current vacant positions where deupties are needed.

- Furlough days for ALL deputies which when you take the number of days and multiply it by the number of deputies you basically have reduced the Sheriff's Sworn force by another 16 deputies for the year.

- Crime everywhere from shoplifting to buglaries to murder and the RCSO barely has enough staffing to respond from call to call, taking on average by deputy as much as 60% more calls than other similar type agencies or any nearby agency. The paperwork the deputies must acomplish each day is overwhelming.

Take your problem to the Commission where it belongs as they have drasticaly cut deputies, funding, training, and equipment needs of the RCSO and therefore people turning left illegally just isn't quite on the priority list right now.

So ASU needs more Black men
Unpublished

So ASU needs more Black men to come to their school, will Paine College now recruit White males because they do not have enough enrolled in their school? Will Paine College have pre-enrollment classes for these White men to bring them to the same level as the Black enrollees? ASU, what about Native Americans, and all other Races/cultures?

Rave to the great concert at the USC Aiken Convocation Center last night with Casting Crowns, Sanctus Real, The Afters, and Lindsay McCaul. An awesome time of worship and praise and Casting Crowns new songs are just as great as their old songs.

The government now controls

The government now controls the weather??? I really hope that was meant as sarcasm but I just don't think so. But just in case it is true, let me suggest that the temperature be set to 72 year 'round. Just think of the money and energy savings from heating and air conditioning alone.

Good morning seenit, ICL

HAARP: High Frequency Active

HAARP: High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program

“Conspiracy theories”

“HAARP is the subject of numerous conspiracy theories, with individuals ascribing various hidden motives and capabilities to the project. Journalist Sharon Weinberger called HAARP 'the Moby Dick of conspiracy theories' and said the popularity of conspiracy theories often overshadows the benefits HAARP may provide to the scientific community.”

“Former Governor of Minnesota and noted conspiracy theorist Jesse Ventura questions whether the government is using the site to manipulate the weather or to bombard people with mind-controlling radio waves. An Air Force spokeswoman said Ventura made an official request to visit the research station but was rejected, ‘and he and his crew show up at HAARP anyway and were denied access.’”

They could have called it

They could have called it HFAARP and pronounced it Faarp with a silent “H” but then their funding would be cut. First rule of government funding is to have a good program name and/or slick sounding acronym.

Come on folks. There is no

Come on folks. There is no turn lanes at the intersection (which is why the "no left turn") and if you are tired and want to get home, sitting through light after light waiting for someone to make an illegal left tun is not on my list. This fits up there a level higher than "No turn signal used".

A machine in Alaska? Would that be right next to the hollow tree where the elves make cookies?

ICL you're right Casting Crowns was fantastic as were the others!

The Government is trying to

The Government is trying to keep our minds off other things, well it has succeded beyond imagination with Black Friday. I don't think it is too difficult to lead the sheeple around by the nose, they certainly don't need a "Machine " in Alaska, the machine is in every living room.

To the ranter complaining

To the ranter complaining about a neighbor who plays a boom box 24/7 in or around their subdivision in Grovetown, if that property is in Columbia County, there is a noise ordinance that makes any loud noise illegal. Check the codes.

If it's the one down from my old river home, last we looked the paddlewheel had a tree grown right into it so unless someone cuts the tree and moves it with it, it's not going anywhere.
