The free 90-minute musical production is a showcase of the talents of hand-picked soldiers from around the country with abilities in singing, performance and dance.
“There’s never a dull moment or place in the show that lags,” said Steve Walpert, the entertainment director for Fort Gordon.
This year’s carnival theme takes the audience to the boardwalk, county fair, circus and fun house around the world. Walpert said the show includes “fantastic costumes and Las Vegas-style lighting and scenery.”
The cast and crew rehearse for six weeks at Fort Belvoir, Va., learning as many as 40 songs in such genres as country, gospel, R&B, rock and soul, in addition to the choreography. Their work requirements also include learning how to dismantle and set up 18 tons of equipment at each stop on the tour. The show tours for eight months.
