Aiken Technical College student Kimberly Grissom has been named the first recipient of the Mike King Memorial Paramedic Scholarship, the college announced.

Sue Stutman-King began work to raise funds for this scholarship two years ago after the death of her husband, Mike, a dedicated paramedic.

The Aiken community responded, allowing for the scholarship's funding for years to come.

Grissom received a $1,050 scholarship for the 2011-12 academic year. She is enrolled in the paramedic program in Aiken Tech's Health Sciences Department.

Anyone wishing to contribute to the scholarship fund can contact the ATC Foundation at (803) 593-9231 or mail a contribution to the ATC Foundation, Mike King Memorial Paramedic Scholarship Fund, P.O. Drawer 696, Aiken SC 29802-0696.
