Comments from our readers:

DEREGULATION BY Republicans has caused this financial mess we are in and now they want more deregulation. I am going out into my yard to relax with a nice big glass of deregulated water and take a deep breath of unregulated air while perusing my bank statement where my teeny saving account earns a whopping .01%. Aaaah.

JUST A SUGGESTION to Fred Russell since he has managed to save a million and a half dollars that the commissioners probably didn’t know about or they would have already spent it. My suggestion with that money is to buy those fingerprint devices. Put every one of them in patrol cars in Richmond County. You would be surprised at the number of people who would be arrested and charged if the police officers have those devices in their vehicles. It is taxpayer money and it would benefit the taxpayers for a change.

WOW, THE PRESIDENT of Iran speaking of freedom as a right to all... to Syria... what a load!!!

TO MY DELIGHT I saw where my Webster’s Dictionary was printed and bound in the USA.

WHERE DOES OBAMA think $300 billion will come from for his latest job creation idea? Our country is beyond broke and now he wants to put us in deeper debt. All of Obama’s stimulus projects have failed and his group of financial wizards he hires are worthless.

RAVE TO CAROLE at Sconyer’s. Carole was our server last Saturday and she was beyond accommodating plus the food was delicious. Wonderful dining experience!

IF OBAMA WOULD deport the illegal immigrants, there would be plenty of jobs.......

HERE’S YOUR CHANGE: National average of gas per gallon 2009: $1.83, 2011: $3.95; price for a barrel of oil 2009: $43.48, 2011: $99.02; and the price for a Troy ounce of gold 2009: $853.25, 2011: $1,504.50. I’m not sure if we can afford to continue with this change.

RANT FOR THE CHRONICLE: You’ve been publishing Associated Press “news articles” which to the careful reader are clearly political propaganda attacks on SC Gov. Haley. The articles imply that she is less than competent, extravagant with taxpayer money, and possibly corrupt, but the only evidence in the articles is “critics say” and that sort of thing. I don’t live in SC and don’t have much interest in SC politics, but I can’t see in these articles any evidence of malfeasance on her part. She just appears to me to be busy doing what she told SC voters she’d do if they elected her. If the AP doesn’t like that, let them openly campaign for her opposition. The AP in recent years has become sneaky and unethical, and this kind of article is not news.

FOR THOSE LOOKING for this president to deliver a jobs program, forget it. This president is ideologically incapable of creating even one new private sector job.

IF OBAMA WOULD deport the illegal immigrants, there would be plenty of jobs.......
....The question is would those on the dole get off and do the jobs available. If they would not then they deserve to lose all the entitlement benifits they get from those of us who work....

Ranter #1-Ever heard of

Ranter #1-Ever heard of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. They were and still are run by people who don't understand that every one is not a good loan risk. Look at all the foreclosurers on their loans that the tax payer has had to pick up. The interest rate is low now because the mortage loan rate and business loan reate is low. The banks can't pay out more than they loan rate. There has to be a profit somewhere.

"nice big glass of

"nice big glass of deregulated water"

And what kind of Kool Aid did you put in that water? Your unregulated air is very regulated by the EPA and various state environmental agencies and you are paying about twice what you should be for gasoline because of the stupid way it is done. They also regulate your unregulated water. And your little .01% will now be eaten up rapidly because of debit card and other fees due to new banking regulations. As usual, the cost just gets passed down to the consumer. Actually the banks were doing pretty well for many years in a less regulated environment until the Democrats pressured them to start giving mortgage loans to unqualified home buyers under the Community Reinvestment Act. When the government forces mortgage lenders to take bad paper, they have to come up with some way to get it off of their books and that is how we got these toxic bundles of mortgages that got us into trouble. Government pressure on banks to do stupid things for politically correct reasons will always cause more of a problem than deregulation but especially when both are involved.

This is what happened yet they spin it to make it as though Republicans did it. We're not too crazy about either party but the truth is the dems bought votes this way and now we are all paying for their vote buying.

Correct me I'm wrong, but wasn't HUSSEIN Obama's promise in his campaign to create jobs??? Although I refuse to watch or listen to him, isn't that the load of crap he was trying to push last week??? How many times are they going to fall for it?

The Market is in another free fall this morning, but, just to be clear, Factcheck will assure us that this is not President Obama's fault.

Yes, get rid of illegal

Yes, get rid of illegal aliens working at farms. Instead of paying them 8 bucks/hr to pick tomatoes and such so we can buy them at $1.65/lb, we will pay an American $12.50 (if we can find one that will work for that cheap) and pay $2.50/lb. Instead of paying some Mexican dude 10 bucks/hr to dig that new septic tank system ditch, pay a greedy American $15.00 for unskilled labor (again, if you can find someone willing to work in the sun, etc), increasing the price for a septic system for that homeowner that is already suffering a furlough day themselves.

The problem is these illegals perform jobs a lot of Americans will not do, even at a reasonable salary. Sadly if you are a high school dropout and really have no professional skills, someone will pay you $7-10/hr to hammer nails in a roof, cut lumber, dig ditches, cut tobacoo, pick fruit and vegetables, flip burgers, drop fries in a basket, etc. But we are worth more than that. If you want to make more, get more education or learn a professional skill. We want someone to pay us a lot of money and then we want to show up half the time and do a half butted job when we do show up.

Factories moving out of the country is our own fault in some cases. Yes, you do have greedy corporate people, but when you have high school dropouts making $35.00/hr on an assembly line then they strike every year or two trying to get $40.00/ hr, then 43 an hour, eventually the CEO's say we can move our factory to Mexico and pay these people 15-20 bucks an hour. They will be making more than they could have otherwise and we will save money ourselves, thus making more profilts for the company and their pockets, while keeping prices competitive with Asian car companies.

I wonder if after China bails out Italy, are they planning to move the Vatican to Beijing? A Chinese Pope and Red Guard Catholicism. That would be interesting.
