Cancer group to hold day of prayer

Press on to Cure Childhood Cancer, a cancer research fund that has gained support in the area, is sponsoring a day of prayer today.

Patrick Chance, a childhood cancer patient from Atlanta who helped inspire the fund, will receive his own stem cells in a critical attempt to help fight neuroblastoma cancer cells.

Patrick’s parents and the family of Brennan Simkins, a 9-year-old Augusta leukemia patient, ask people to pray for all cancer patients at noon and 6 p.m. today.

Local schools and businesses are being asked to hold fundraisers Sept. 30 for childhood cancer research. The fund raised $100,000 last year.
