Child struck by vehicle at 15th and Morgan in Augusta

  • Follow Metro

A boy was struck by a vehicle at 15th and Morgan streets on Thursday afternoon, Richmond County dispatch said.

"The boy darted out in front of a car," said Willie Jordan, who saw the accident from his porch.

Jordan, who knows the family, said the boy's mother is Jamika Jamison, and the child is Zachariah. A cousin had just picked up the boy and two other children from school.

The cousin tried to stop the boy when he ran into traffic, and the car also swerved out of the way, Jordan said. His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

The child, who Jordan said is about 5 years old, was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital for treatment.
