Outside the Salvation Army Kroc Center was sweltering, but inside, patrons could cool off in a new 3,544-square-foot pool that features a water slide and lazy river.

The temperature was near 100 outside Augusta National Golf Club's gate.

Record highs for August

Thursday marked the second consecutive day of record-high temperatures for the date: 105 for Aug. 3 and 104 for Aug. 4, according to accuweather.com.

Triple-digit heat isn't back in the forecast for the Augusta area until Monday.
