Healthy Augusta Inc. will hold its first community awareness event May 21.

The free Let's Walk Augusta event is scheduled for 9 to 11 a.m. at Sibley Mill on the Augusta Canal, next to the Salvation Army Kroc Center. It will combine a 1-mile walk, which will begin and end at Sibley Mill, with a health fair. It is a community initiative designed to get Augusta walking.

Other highlights include a visit from Auggie, the Augusta GreenJackets mascot; light refreshments and breakfast sandwiches from Subway; and information on how to start a community walking group.

Sign-up sheets will be provided to encour age a leader from each community to start a walking group.

Donations for the group will be taken. For any donation more than $6, the donor will receive a Healthy Augusta T-shirt while supplies last.
