COLUMBIA --- A South Carolina state senator who has criticized and personally insulted Gov. Nikki Haley is now accusing her of using her security detail to fetch drinks at a golf tournament.

Republican Sen. Jake Knotts, of Lexington, won approval Wednesday for a budget law change that says security detail members are restricted to performing only security work after criticizing the actions from the Senate floor.

Leaders at three law enforcement agencies whose officers work on Haley's protective detail would not confirm Knotts' description of events at The Heritage last month.

Haley spokesman Rob Godfrey said he wouldn't discuss details of security work.
