Join others who are struggling with grief at a workshop from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on three Sundays: May 1, 8 and 15.

The group will meet in Room 100 of the adult building at First Baptist Church, 3500 Walton Way.

Mind and spirit

The Coalition for Mental and Spiritual Health Ministries and the Augusta chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness are sponsoring A Service for Healing of the Mind and Spirit.

The service begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church, 5555 Hereford Farm Road, Evans.

The community-wide event is for all those whose lives have been affected by mental illness, including health care providers and care givers.

Concert with a cause

Mack Wilberg, the conductor of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, conducts a concert of his own compositions for chorus and orchestra Sunday at St. John's United Methodist Church.

Wilberg will conduct performances at 3 and 6 p.m.

The event, at the church at 736 Green St., is free, but an offering will be taken to benefit Interfaith Hospitality Network of Augusta.

Sacred Harp Sing

The second annual Sacred Harp Singing begins at 9:30 a.m. May 7 at The Augusta Old Line Primitive Baptist Church, 3646 Old Petersburg Rd., Martinez.

The day begins with a half-hour introduction to the art of Sacred Harp music. Singing begins at 10 a.m. A covered dish lunch will be served at noon. Singing resumes from 1 to 3 p.m.

Homecoming event

The third annual Jeff & Sheri Easter Homecoming festival begins at 7 p.m. Friday and continues at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the old Lewis Family Homeplace, 1935 Lewis Family Road, northwest of Lincolnton, Ga.

Tickets cost $15. Proceeds benefit preservation and restoration efforts of the old home where members of the legendary Lewis Family bluegrass and gospel group were born.
