Rants & Raves

ONE CRISIS AFTER another hits Washington, and where are the so-called "leaders"? They're in California, in Europe, in anywhere but Washington while things continue to wash down the drain.

GOOD IDEAS FROM Mr. Duff, who wants to "cut all government programs" and "not vote for any candidate" who won't balance the budget. He errs, however, in wanting a 1 percent national sales tax. That's just a new way for government to steal people's money, and it would replace the money government is already pouring out windows. Better is to cut all programs by 50 percent, for starters, and add no new taxes ever. Without drastic and courageous action from politicians, freedom goes out that same window.

A HUGE RAVE to all the folks who supported the Children's Medical Network T-shirt sale in front of Wal-Mart at Bobby Jones Expressway this past Sunday.

IF IT SAVES the taxpayers money and it provides business, jobs and income for the local area, do business with the commissioners. That's why they're here. They know more about what's needed and should be done in this area than out-of-town or out-of-the-area people.

I BET THERE would be many guys who would work for the Utilities Department instead of rehiring convicted felons. Smoke pot, then go to pot.

TO THE PERSON wanting to know how some welfare and food stamp recipients buy the illegal drugs they use: They sell their food stamps for half the value. I see it every day. Of course, the government knows this and does nothing to stop it.

THIS IS A RAVE for the anonymous individual who paid for the lunches for all of the uniformed personnel at the Red Robin in Evans on April 21. The entire Fort Gordon JAG office was having a farewell luncheon, and when the time came to pay for our checks, we were told someone had already paid. Considering there were over 20 of us, that is not a small check! Thank you so much!

THIS IS A RAVE for the woman who got out of her car on Wrightsboro Road in the pouring rain to rescue a turtle that was in the middle of the road. Way to look out!

One of the problems with any

One of the problems with any government entity is that once a budget is created you will play hell trying to reduce it. Both parties are to blame and both have pet projects and fund many non-essential items. Those of us who pay taxes and vote must DEMAND of our politicians that cuts MUST be made to all non-essential spending and that tough decisions must also be made to many programs such as social secuirty, medicare and medicade. We simply can not sustain this spending any longer.

You can pick and choose what to cut but in reality, our government should tax the pubilc to cover the expenses of National Security, Public Safety, Infrastructure, Education, some Health and Safety Services and limited inspection services such as the FAA, CDC, FDA, etc. -- ALL other funding such as foreign aid, social enabling programs, funding for the arts, public broadcasting, tax credits, tax free exemptions for religious institutions, special grant projects, etc. should be completly eliminated or greatly reduced. All of these non-essential funded entities should rely on donations or support from their base of individuals, not the tax payers.

Like it or not, we also need drastic changes made to social security, medicare and medicade to cut out waste, remove fraud, and change the benefits structure for those under the age of 40 or so.

Non US citizens should be denied ALL benefits and access to free public education, health services, etc. and frankly should be removed from the country unless they are able to establish residency legally. If they are productive members of society and have no criminal records, we maybee could have some type of guest worker permit where they work towards citizenship, pay taxes and use services but any that are non-productive need to be denied services and removed from this country.

We MUST change this entitlement mentatility as none of us are owed anything that we don't work for. Charity begins at home and should come from family, friends, church or charities...not US taxpayers.

“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the industrious out of it. You don’t multiply wealth by dividing it. Government cannot give anything to anybody that it doesn’t first take from somebody else. Whenever somebody receives something without working for it, somebody else has to work for it without receiving. The worst thing that can happen to a nation is for half of the people to get the idea they don’t have to work because somebody else will work for them, and the other half to get the idea that it does no good to work because they don’t get to enjoy the fruit of their labor.”

Our current administration is simply on the wrong path and the "change" that has been brought to this counrty hasn't done anything good for any of us....The poor are still poor and always will be unless they stop relying on the government and make major changes in their life or win the lottery. The middle class are poorer now than they were before and many have had their homes taken away from them, had to change cars due to gas prices, lost jobs, taken salary reductions, etc. The rich are being taxed at ridiculous rates and the administration wants even more from them meaning they will produce less, provide less jobs and spend less money which would in turn help the economy.

This administration can continue to try and create a racial divide as well as a division based on wealth envy. Their current statements and policies are aimed at this because they wish for the majority to be dependent on the government. To some extent both parties wish for this because this is how governments grow and those in charge are more powerful.

We, the taxpaying voters (at least the remaining 52% of us) had better wake up and persuade our elected officials to make drastic spending cuts, remove all government waste and do something to greatly reduce our debts.

The lady saved a turtle from

The lady saved a turtle from instant death.....ooooh if only life could be that easy......

Sooo welfare goodies are sold for drugs...who woulda thunk it!!
Anyone paying for 20 or more has to be a good guy..... yikes we still have "good guys"
Add another cent or two to a dollar...yeh I could go along with that....but they would have to put the $$ on our run away debt... would they?? Who knows....Now if we start taxing long weaves-nails-cellphones-fancy cars--ipods--youpods--mepods--shiny rims--...well we might get a few bucks..
Do we have a good candidate running for President....well who??
