Rants & Raves

Comments from our readers:

PRESIDENT OBAMA suggests a large family struggling with increasing gas prices should buy a motor vehicle that doesn't exist -- and people on the left thought Sarah Palin's death panels were bad?

HEADLINE: "Big budget cuts are OK'd by lawmakers." Why keep lying? When the ultimate cost rises, there is NO "cut" in a budget. This is just confusing jargon spewed out by both Obama and Boehner.

GEORGIA'S LEGISLATURE claims it "delivered a rebuke to ... Obama's health law..." by approving a state health care bill. Having your personal health care taken over by government -- whether federal, state or local -- is still Marxist state control of individuals. That's not a rebuke to Obama. Get government OUT of people's business. Does no one in Atlanta understand English?

I THINK IT SHOULD be mandatory that anybody on welfare or food stamps should have to take a drug test, just like people who have a job.

I WOULD LIKE TO SEND a huge rave to Enterprise on Washington Road. The two young men there, Donovan and Maurice, they were very helpful and thoughtful. ... They went above and beyond. Thank you so much.

"DIGNITARIES" (which dignitaries?) announce they'd spend (who's paying?) $47 million for a presidential library to house George Washington's 2,500 books and important papers. Mount Vernon is already big enough to house Washington's books and papers. Not even one name was mentioned in the story. These unnamed dignitaries "hope (it) will evolve into a 'think tank.' " What do you want to bet, if you trace it back far enough, you'll find marxists behind the whole thing?

OBAMA SAYS THE GOP budget "cuts" will turn the U.S. into a third-world country. Since the GOP "cuts" are no more truly "cuts" than the Obama "cuts," neither party is cutting anything; and NOT cutting has already dragged us down to a two-and-a-half-world country. We're sinking as you read this, and since Obama's long-term goal is to turn the U.S. into a poor-folks dictatorship, Obama is very happy with our struggles. As long as we struggle, Obama enjoys it.

THIS IS A RANT FOR Phil Mickelson. Phil Mickelson is an arrogant jerk. Famous people have their photos taken in public and posted around the world. Krispy Kreme ought to have his photo blown up to poster size, framed with a caption below it, "Arrogant, narcissistic jerk" and put back in the Krispy Kreme. Don't let this guy slap you around like this. Stand up. Do something.

I'M RANTING AGAINST the ranters in Friday's paper. There are several ranting against Phil Mickelson, his representatives, calling Krispy Kreme to take down Phil's picture. Well, I'm pulling for Phil no matter what. It's one thing to allow fans to take your picture for their own personal scrapbooks. But I don't believe he intended that picture to be an unpaid endorsement of the restaurant, and he has a right to control his image. He's still my guy. I hope he makes the cut every time, and I hope he continues to win.

The Obama administration has

The Obama administration has increased spending by 28% in 2 years and ALL of these cuts by either party will not even bring us back down to the 2008 level of spending. We expect it from Obama and the democrats but it should not be expected or acceptable from those sent to Congress in the last election with a clear directive to CUT SPENDING.

Neither party is doing their job appropriately. Do not spend what you don't have, stop raising the debt ceiling, END all non-essential spending immediatley, tackle the tough issues such as medicare, medicade and social security, etc.

We need LEADERS from both parties who could care less about re-election to end government waste, reduce spending and properly serve their country.

There is pork spending from BOTH parties and only a few conservative republicans are actually telling it like it is and trying to really tackle the issues and problems honeslty. No matter what is cut, it will make some voter mad because you are cutting their pet project, their field of service, something they enjoy or believe in, etc. but we MUST make cuts, major cuts to the budget.

Our President's immature and irrational response to cutting spending is not acceptable and although not all voters will agree most who pay taxes certainly will. For those who don't agree that spending needs to drastically be reduced by our government, please make sure to send the IRS all available funds you have on hand since you believe it will be spent appropriately.

"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give toanybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

Wellllllll....it's Hump-Day, or Wodin's Day, or Earth Day, or the Great American Smoke Out Day, or the other Don't Smoke today Day....jeesh...I think this country has gone overboard with just naming a certain day....Get'er done!
Now how about those whines n whimpers....
1) I have a truck that is no longer made, w an engine larger than a Cadillac, burns gas like a runner drinks water, and I still have money in my pocket..what are ya'll doin' wrong?
2) Semantics...hey folks, our economy is in trouble. Does this not bother everyone?
3) Half the folks in Jawjuh gubberment can't unnerstan' English, cuz they can't read! The other half don't think critically so they let the gov't think for them...
4) Gimme dat ting....and no testing...that's Marxist!
5) Noted. Good deeds are always rewarded.
6) Same guy, Marxists everywhere. The Russians are coming!...oh, there aren't any Commie Russians any more? Never mind.
7) I give up. What is a half a country? Oh yeah, the half that doesn't recognize the other half.
8) Mickelson is just protecting his public image and his income. Who would not fight to protect their own income? So ranter, you want to give all yours away for free? Just drop off what you don't want at my house and I'll meet ya at my bank where you can give me the rest of your money...since it ain't worth fighting over.
9) Ditto what he said.
Nine rants fell short today, but hey, it's time to get over the hump. Get up, get out there and do yer thing. Time waits for no one. Make the best use of it because....
Today is the day the Lord has made, I will be glad and rejoice in it. Choose this day whom you will serve.
Be nice, hug your dog, he's your best friend you'll ever have. Trust me.
God bless n G'day.

"Mount Vernon is owned and maintained in trust for the people of the United States by the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association, a private, non-profit organization founded in 1853 by Ann Pamela Cunningham. The Association is the oldest national historic preservation organization in the country, and it has always been in the forefront of the restoration field. It is directed by a Board of Regents, comprised solely of women, who represent over 30 states. A Board of Advisors of prominent citizens from across the country meets twice a year to provide additional input on Mount Vernon’s governance."

"I THINK IT SHOULD be mandatory that anybody on welfare or food stamps should have to take a drug test, just like people who have a job."

Georgia tried to pass legislation to mandate drug testing for those on public assistance; however, it was struck by the liberals.

The liberals said it was unfair to pick on poor people. Gimmie a break! If you are poor; how the heck can you afford drugs?

I fully support drug testing on those who draw public assistance!

Drug testing for EVERYBODY

Drug testing for EVERYBODY weekly. In order to keep what you have property, job, or liberty, drug tests for all. A positive test would result in the loss of everything and life in prison. This includes ALL drugs from aspirin to heroin. ALL drugs are dangerous and we need protecting by daddy government.

Copperhead, your sarcasim is

Copperhead, your sarcasim is duly noted and in reality, I agree we don't need big government looking over and protecting everyone.

That being said, if liberals would agree to remove all social enabling programs that reward negative behavior by handing our free government housing, food and money compliments of hard working taxpayers those tax payers could then care less if those individuals take drug tests or not.
