Palin makes Columbia stop

COLUMBIA --- For a few hours Friday, a bookstore in Columbia became a little bit of "Palin Country" as the former Alaska governor wrapped up her latest book tour with a stop in a key presidential primary state.

Sarah Palin talks to a baby during the signing of her book, "America by Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith, and Flag"in Columbia, S.C. Friday.

Sarah Palin signed copies of her book America by Heart in South Carolina, a state that has sided with the winner of the Republican presidential primary every year since 1980.

Palin hasn't committed to a presidential run in 2012, but she had people from gray-haired ladies wearing "The Arctic Fox" sweatshirts to a couple of people sitting in "Don't Tread on Me" lawn chairs urging her to save their country.

"We need someone like her to clean things up," said Gail Martin, who was getting a book signed for her and her 8-year-old daughter. "She's not like anyone up there now."

South Carolina will be the first state in the South to send its Republicans to the polls in 2012, and Palin is well-liked here. An exit poll taken on Election Day found more than 80 percent of people who identified themselves as Republicans approved of Palin.

But they also split among Palin, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee when asked which candidate they favored to be the party's nominee in 2012.

At the Books-A-Million in Columbia on Friday, it was hard to find anyone who wasn't planning on voting for Palin if she runs.

"She's so down to earth. She's not like those other politicians. She's someone that doesn't show off and isn't afraid to speak the truth to anyone," said Pat Greenwood, who was getting her two books signed for her children.

Anyone who wanted a book signed first had to wait for several hours in a damp chill to get a wristband Wednesday that ensured they would see Palin. Then, most of them lined up in the cold again for several more hours to get as close to the front of the line as possible.

The rules for the signing were strict. No pictures with Palin, and she would only sign her name -- no personal messages. Reporters were only allowed less than 10 minutes behind a curtain to watch her and couldn't ask questions.

Palin isn't the only potential candidate hanging around South Carolina about 14 months before the primary.

Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum will be at Republican events today in Charleston, while former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich will be the headliner of a Dec. 16 fundraiser in Spartanburg County called "Christmas with Newt!"

Oh wonderful ,the great two

Oh wonderful ,the great two year governor of Alaska is coming to check out hunting the poor bear hunt. Remember the ones, where they yank their teeth with and claws, great honorable sport. Kinda reminds me of cruising in a copter shooting wolves. He**, she might move here. Yes, she is an attractive woman but, that's anything positive with this person. Rep. or Dem, this woman is a fool. Yes she is making plenty of money! What an embarrassment to me as a mother and a woman. Do I get Amen?

"sadieucie"...You want an

"sadieucie"...You want an "Amen" for calling an intelligent, hard-working Mother a "Fool" and " an embarrassment as a mother and a woman"...because she...hunts?
Now that is just a down-right "FOOLISH" thing for you to say.

sounds like jealousy rules it's ugly head ...
There is an over-population of different animal breeds in Alaska...Hunting is done for FOOD, not sport. Get some facts straight, and NEVER call someone a Fool that you haven't personally met!
You don't know their heart, the time that they spend alone with their children, the hours they spent crying, praying and hoping for a special needs child...
I don't care if this person was a Dem. big-wig...I wouldn't say such a stupid, thoughtless statement and expect to get someone to agree, oops!..no, that's not what you said, you wanted an "Amen"...like in church. Sorry, your vapid remark doesn't warrant anything that I would respond to my pastor with....
You just want some "Prom-hair, don't you???

Aroundtown...You must be a

Aroundtown...You must be a rush limbaugh listener, huh? Can't think for yourself, so you need a person yell for you? I don't, I speak just fine for myself. You betcha! Husband and enjoy the show the palin has mainly for it's beauty for Alaska and the culture. Not palin bragging about herself, something she seems to do very well. You betcha. Poor ole Todd rearing their youngest son, where's mom, out showboating...This woman said and I quote "you have to be on your heels"... thought it was your toes. She is one of the most narcissistic people that I can remember. No I am NOT jealous, Embarrassed. I am not a Traveler from SC. As for crying for her children... I saw her cry the other night when she saw Todd family child down-syndrome son a few yrs. older than her son, yes she cried. Was it because.... maybe she is Never with special needs child and she saw what this mother was doing with her love, patience and compassion.
Aroundtown...You are only reading or hearing what the rush limbaughs of the country are feeding your dry sponge, wolves are predatory animals such as hawks and eagles. We are just getting them established back into the Yellowstone National Park. Sounds like you need to read up on something besides your hero. I care much more about our wolves and bears than some foolish Prom-hair two-year quitting politician that makes other people melt. Wonder what kept John McCain from winning Presidency. She lost my vote for him.

sadielucie....what are you

sadielucie....what are you babbling on about. Half of your comment makes no sense and the other half sounds like jealousy. What does Traveler from SC have to do with this and as for YOU never seeing her with her youngest, I've seen her interacting with him plenty of times. Oh by the way....I don't think I've ever listened to Rush Limbaugh so don't even try and go there.

Boo.. Why would you day you

Boo.. Why would you day you want our country to hit rock bottom? It is bad enough. I don't think that she would put us rock bottom but I don't think that she is who I want to be president. I leaning toward Christie.

Nothing that I said had to do

Nothing that I said had to do with Rush Limbaugh...or the travelers...But Kudos to "Sadielucie" for the conviction that she has in ranting about someone she's never met.
Like I said..CLEARLY..."You don't know their heart, the time that they spend alone with their children, the hours they spent crying, praying and hoping for a special needs child...
I don't care if this person was a Dem. big-wig...I wouldn't say such a stupid, thoughtless statement and expect to get someone to agree"
I DON'T CARE who she/he is....it is tacky & NARCISSISTIC to act like you are the epitome of intelligence and refer to me as a "Dry Sponge"..
Get over yourself...you are looking very much like the self-centered person that you DESPISE....
Y'know...People who resort to name-calling, instead of intelligent debate, aren't worth my time. Call THAT narcissistic if you want, I am pretty Awesome, if I say so myself...(Jesus likes me too, BTW.)

You can tell when someone is

You can tell when someone is doing things right, when the kool-aid drinkers come out with their hate speech and diatribes.

Aroundtown..... You seem to

Aroundtown..... You seem to be considerably younger than me.. You asked 'me' if I wanted some prom-hair? My response was that I was not a traveler, meaning a Irish Traveler (young female's hair), You must not be for here. Then you referred to me as "FOOLISH", I was taught long time ago that caps meant yelling. I am not a fool. Now, you are accusing me of calling palin names and I don't know her!! Do you know me? Are you have palin for the holidays? Can you answer my question why she only served 2 years as a governor? How much did that cost the state? How stable is that person? Aroundtown, I believe that I have just as much right to comment as you. You betcha! Now you wrote that I was ranting about someone that I have never met and you met palin when????? and speak how often??? Another thing YOUR COMMENTS...." Hunting is done for food not a sport.... How do wolves taste??? Did you realize wolves mate for life?? OK It finally hit like a rock I am seeing similarities here..palin and you... can you just answer my question.... why didn't fill out her duties of governor of Alaska?
