Comments from readers:

A RANT TO parents who send their kids to school sick. If your child wakes up with a fever, don't give them medicine and send them to school, KEEP THEM HOME. Not only do others get sick from your contagious child, other parents have to miss work and stay home with their sick child. Don't be so selfish, keep your sick child home and YOU miss a day of work.

MODERN POLITICIANS AND THEIR WIVES are so filled with their own importance, they think they can do anything they want to. Apparently, the wife of Georgia politician Tyrone Brooks thinks so much of herself, she figures she can skew the law and walk away from it, and all this in a murder case, the most serious felony there is.

LET THE S.C. election between Alvin Greene and DeMint prove something: That if have an ignorant candidate and an undesirable one, there will be a lot of voters who feel they'd rather have the ignorant one over the undesirable one. Candidates, better shape up!

WHY DO THEY NEED 20 individuals and an executive search firm to find a new chancellor of the University System of Georgia? Yes, it's an important position but can you imagine the money that is about to be spent especially in these bad economic times.

I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE
the mentality of some people who think that any person riding a bike along a country road deserves to be run down because they put themselves in harm's way. Ahh! excuse me but public roads are just that, to be used by the public, whether using a car, truck, motorcycle, bicycle, horse and buggy, or walking. Especially law-abiding, productive, taxpaying people.

I WAS CONSIDERING moving back to Augusta from northern Virginia. But, the recent mayoral election has convinced me that Augusta is still stuck in the past and is not interested in change. No thank you! I'll stay where I am.

FOLKS, PLEASE stay away from Lottery scratch-offs. My husband spent $500 in six months and won Nothing. If I can help save just one poor sucker from throwing away their money, I will be happy.

LORI DAVIS WAS clearly the best choice for mayor. I guess Augusta-Richmond County will always be stuck in the past. Now I know why I live in Columbia County.

RANTS TO THE Richmond County Board of Education. With so much being said about bullying, drugs and porn in our schools, maybe you should take a look at who's overseeing our kids. You have a married high school principal who is having an affair and everyone turns a blind eye. This really sends a bad message.

In reference to the last

In reference to the last rant: Yes, the school system, from the School Board on down the line leaves a lot to be desired, but they are not sending the bad message. The bad message is being sent by the parents for not setting the example and enforcing discipline at home. Learning starts at home, not running the streets all hours of the night. By knowing who your children associate with, and setting the limits as to what your child can or cannot do. By you getting involved with your child's school. Parents walking around with their pants below their butts and mothers looking like hucci mamas, running the streets, smoking their dope, that is really being a good roll model. A good parent is one that takes pride in themselves, their children, and the community. It's not to late to start..

1.) Some parents can’t afford

1.) Some parents can’t afford a sitter, cannot afford the loss of job and have no relatives or support system on which to depend for help. I agree it’s risky to put other kids in the company of a sick child, but it’s also risky to chance losing your job as a single parent. Things aren’t always as simple to resolve as just snipping out a pat answer to a problem.

2.) When is it going to become apparent that people with money and clout can get away with almost anything, including murder? …while the regular guy just has to grin and bare it.

3.) Now if only the AC editors would attempt to proofread before putting into print an incomplete sentence such as is above, there might be less ignorance among the reading masses.

4.) (question mark?)
Even a rhetorical question needs proper punctuation. Perhaps they need to get outside help because of the incompetence of the local citizenry who can’t seem to use proper English when framing a sentence.

5.) I can’t believe that bike riders think they are so special as to put themselves in harm’s way while taking the lane and holding back commuters on their way to and from their destinations.

6.) Good. We don’t need any more critics. We have enough here already….

7.) While $500 in six months may sound like a lot….keep playing. I was down $600 one day and hit $1500. Then a few months back was arguing w my son about scratch-offs not paying off when he won $100K so he shut up when he put the check into the bank. Not bad for five minutes effort and five bucks. Depends on your values and whether money has value or is just a means to an end.

8.) And now we know why as well. Good luck w all that unsupported growth. Wait til the tax bills come due. And why if you live in CC would the Augusta election for mayor even be a concern? Probably work here in RC and take your money to CC to pay those taxes. And folks wonder why RC keeps spending and getting nowhere.

9.) So did you report this employee or are you just spewing hearsay cuz you’re jealous he didn’t flirt w you?

Here's a rave to make it a perfect ten:

IT"S FRIDAY!....now go do something productive! I'm outta here. G'day.

If you have children, it is

If you have children, it is your responsibility to take care of them, including not sending them to school sick. That's just part of being a good parent. It amazes me how parents think everyone else should suffer due to their bad decisions! No excuses....none......you had em, now deal with em.

The cyclists do appear to

The cyclists do appear to think they're a little better than the average citizen. Maybe they need to talk to some motorcycle riders, who have known for years that cars don't pay any attention to them. Fact is, the roads were built for cars and it is dangerous to mingle with them.

Ok where do I start....I am reading that some of the debt-reduction plan would include reducing soc sec benefits-increasing the gas tax-reducing or eliminating the home mortgage interest--& wiping out tax free treatment of employer provided health insurance....well....welll.....If we don't see some FREEBIES wiped out I can tell you right now this other stuff won't fly.

I'm always interested in the Rants from those in the peanut-gallery. They're not in the game, but they are thinking about it and if they were then this is how THEY would do it. It's really helpful. Please stay patient with us poor, slow-witted numb skulls who actually have our money, families and lives invested in Augusta and by all means please keep the wisdom coming. We can use all the help we can get.

"I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE the

"I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE the mentality of some people who think that" anyone is saying that bicyclist should be run down. What many ARE saying is that bicyclist mixing on roads with 2 ton automobiles is a danger. Yes they are public roads but so are interstates and bicyclists cannot ride there. Why? Because there is a high probability of a collision. The probability of a collision on a "country road" is less than on an interstate but there is still a good probability that it will occasionally happen. Whatever the reason for the collision that caused Matthew Burke's tragic injuries, the fact of the matter is that when car meets bicycle the bike rider is the loser and it will continue to happen if cars and bicycles mix on the roads. Nobody is advocating "running down" bike riders. They are merely stating the obvious. Bike riders are becoming more adamant, even militatant, about blockig traffic and slowing it to their pace and car drivers are becoming more careless, in a hurry, and yes, sometimes enraged. Netiher is right, both are wrong, and as long as they continue to share the "public" roads it will occasionally be a contact sport.

A number of those parents

A number of those parents sending children to school sick do not even have a job. You couldn't give them a job. They simply don't want to care for their child whether it is sick or not. That child was brought into this world to increase my entitlement check and maybe even qualify me for a larger house. I have to go get my nails done, or my hair done, or maybe another tattoo. You will have to go on to school sick. Yes, I agree with Kareyclark.

according to "state theory")

according to "state theory") or imaginative role-enactment (according to "non-state theory").[1][2][3][4] It is usually induced by a procedure known as a hypnotic induction, which is commonly composed of a long series of preliminary instructions and suggestions.[5] Hypnotic suggestions may be delivered by a hypnotist in the presence of the subject, or may be self-administered ("self-suggestion" or "autosuggestion"). The use of hypnotism for therapeutic purposes is referred to as "hypnotherapy".

The words 'hypnosis' and 'hypnotism' both derive from the term "neuro-hypnotism" (nervous sleep) coined by the Scottish surgeon James Braid around 1841. Braid based his practice on that developed by Franz Mesmer and his followers ("Mesmerism" or "animal magnetism"), but differed in his theory as to how the procedure worked.
hypnosis is a mental state.......often induced by mesmerizing speakers...

Liked your letter Karey. Only

Liked your letter Karey. Only have one thing to add, a good parent has a child out of love, or at least what they believed to be love. So many children(and most of you know it's true) are conceived out of ignorance or the desire for a check. I told someone yesterday, it would be one of the saddest things to find out for someone that they were brought in this world for a dollar(check).

We have a pretty stiff tax on

We have a pretty stiff tax on gasoline. Rightfully, it is called road use tax. How many bicycles are using gasoline?. Our vehicles must be registered, tagged, and taxed to operate on the roads. How many bicycles are required to do the same? That being said, whether it is sane or not, the law does provide that bicycles have a right to ride on the extreme right side of the lane. All must exercise caution when on the roadway. Many idiots out there. That's why I love flying.

"You have a married high

"You have a married high school principal who is having an affair and everyone turns a blind eye."

Did the Chronicle really just publish that? Also, with the constant dumbing down of morality this culture does, I honestly don't think anyone really cares about sacred vows anymore. Since the divorce rate is over 50% I'm betting the vast majority of the married population are having affairs. So why would they care? I can think of at least two married Columbia County school teachers who are having affairs with married men. Those ladies are closer to your children than the principals.
