Art museum plans its first tour in Spanish

  • Follow Metro

The Morris Museum of Art will offer its first tour in Spanish on Sunday.

Museum docent Ron Bonar will lead the tour of the permanent collection.

"With the ever-increasing size of the Spanish-speaking population in the CSRA, we feel it is important to offer a tour of the museum's collection to these individuals in their native language," said David Tucker, the deputy director and curator of education, in a statement.

A 2 p.m. tour of the permanent galleries and a 3:15 p.m. tour of a special exhibition are led every Sunday. Admission is free on Sundays.

What a wonderful opportunity

What a wonderful opportunity for all our local students learning Spanish to practice their skill outside of the classroom.

What if someone wants to

What if someone wants to attend and they do not speak Spanish. Will it be bilingal like the monorail at Disneyworld? Disneyworld is a fantasy land so I guess the rest of the nation, even Augusta, should follow suit.

The language of the United

The language of the United States is ENGLISH; if the museum guests do not care to learn the language, they can take their personal interpreter with them. Legitimate foreign guests of the United States and LEGAL immigrants know enough English to understand what is going on. If you go to a foreign country, you will not be accommodated with special tours in English only. This is just another way to pander to the garbage coming out of Washington and it needs to stop.

Onlysane, they should be

Onlysane, they should be bilingual!! Nothing against latinos, just the truth! When latinos who only speak Spanish request public services (police, fire, ambulance, hospital) they as well as those who provide services are at a terrible advantage.

I agree, they want to come to

I agree, they want to come to this country so bad....someone please let them know that the language here is ENGLISH...but then again, who are the ones that are enabling them? Guess that means we have to adapt to them instead of them adapting to a country that they want so badly to live in!!!!!!Just ticks me off so bad everytime I read crap like this. Promise I wont go there anymore, but then again, I am sure they do not care!

Mable and Sweetson, get your

Mable and Sweetson, get your facts together: THERE IS NO OFFICIAL LANGUAGE in the United States of America. Georgia recognizes English as it's official language, as well as South Carolina. So, why the hate about a tour in Spanish? If it offends you, don't go on the tour.....
