Men caught breaking into West Lake cars

The nephews of a man caught breaking into a car in West Lake in 2008 were arrested Thursday morning after trying the same thing in the same neighborhood.

Tywan Jermaine Rogers, 27, and his 19-year-old brother, Jerome, both of the 3200 block of Parker Road in Hephzibah, were arrested by deputies conducting surveillance, who caught the brothers attempting to enter a vehicle , Columbia County sheriff's Capt. Steve Morris said.

At least 18 vehicles were broken into in West Lake during September, Morris said. More residents called Thursday morning to report break-ins, he said.

Both men are charged with entering an automobile, and were being held in the Columbia County Detention Center without bond.

The Rogers brothers are nephews of Bobby Lee Roberson, who was involved in several entering autos cases in the same subdivision.

A Medical College of Georgia officer fired a shot at Roberson after finding him in his car in February 2008. Roberson was charged under the Armed Career Criminal Act for being a felon in possession of a stolen firearm.
