Men caught breaking into West Lake cars

  • Follow Metro

The nephews of a man caught breaking into a car in West Lake in 2008 were arrested Thursday morning after trying the same thing in the same neighborhood.

Tywan Jermaine Rogers, 27, and his 19-year-old brother, Jerome, both of the 3200 block of Parker Road in Hephzibah, were arrested by deputies conducting surveillance, who caught the brothers attempting to enter a vehicle , Columbia County sheriff's Capt. Steve Morris said.

At least 18 vehicles were broken into in West Lake during September, Morris said. More residents called Thursday morning to report break-ins, he said.

Both men are charged with entering an automobile, and were being held in the Columbia County Detention Center without bond.

The Rogers brothers are nephews of Bobby Lee Roberson, who was involved in several entering autos cases in the same subdivision.

A Medical College of Georgia officer fired a shot at Roberson after finding him in his car in February 2008. Roberson was charged under the Armed Career Criminal Act for being a felon in possession of a stolen firearm.

Maybe West Lake cars attract

Maybe West Lake cars attract this bunch because of their genetics--like a pheromone or something.

It looks like they would have learned from their uncle's mistake. Perhaps, they are tying to arrange a family reunion.

Two of Richmond county's finest drive all the way from Hephzibah to steal from the folks in Columbia County. Fantastic.

Just goes to show that even in a gated community you are not protected from the scum.

I hate the use of the term

I hate the use of the term "men" caught breaking into cars. MEN do not steal. They WORK to support themselves and their families. Along with supporting themselves, the fruits of their efforts also support too many of those who DO NOT work. CRIMINALS break into cars. THUGS break into cars. LOSERS break into cars. MEN do not break into cars.

Kudos to the Columbia County

Kudos to the Columbia County Sheriffs Department! You probably did them a favor and saved their life by arresting them. Lot's of folks were locked, loaded, and waiting.
