Rape at UGA similar to attack last September

ATHENS, GA. --- Athens-Clarke County police are investigating whether the rapes of two University of Georgia students that took place a year apart are connected.

The attacks took place Sept. 4, 2009, and Sept. 4 of this year.

Authorities told the Athens Banner-Herald that in each attack a UGA student hailed what she thought was a taxi and got into a dark van driven by a man who took the woman elsewhere and assaulted her.

Sexual assault experts say there could be other attacks that were not reported.

Drivin' N Cryin's gear stolen while in Macon

MACON, GA. --- A trailer filled with rock band Drivin' N Cryin's vintage music equipment was swiped from a Macon hotel parking lot after a weekend show.

The Atlanta band said the trailer was stolen from a La Quinta Inn early Saturday.

Band manager Ken Green said the trailer contained thousands of dollars worth of "irreplaceable" music and sound equipment. He said some of it was equipment from the 1960s and 1970s, and that some was created specifically for the band's needs.

Green said the band still plans to make its next gigs in Bainbridge and Raleigh, N.C. He said the Allman Brothers Band has offered to loan the band equipment.

Lt. George Meadows of the Bibb County Sheriff's Office said authorities are investigating.
