This is a rant to all those restaurants who play the background music so loud you can't have a conversation with the people you are with. If your music is loud, you will be marked off my list of places to eat. My question: What is the purpose of playing music this loud?
I am blessed to live out at the lake. It is beautiful, and I don't mind sharing that beauty with visitors. I do, however, object to having to pick up after people that litter while using the lake. I wonder if the person who left the empty six pack of Land Shark beer and a pack of cigarette butts on the shoreline realizes the sponsor, Jimmy Buffet, is an ardent environmentalist?

Your story about Dr. Joshua Sego, who died in 1897, mentioned in his school, "grades were also issued for conduct." Conduct grades were also given in Georgia schools in the 1940s and maybe the '50s. They were strict and the worst any student ever did was to talk too much or chew gum in class. Look at modern students who are NOT graded on deportment. Some even attack teachers. Can modern students, or teachers, even define deportment?

Only a few kids today know the meaning of deportman. Many are disrespectful because their parents are too. Parents arent stepping up and being parents. They are too involved having a good ole drug time, so kids are left with no positive models. None of this is new to us. We've been seeing a decline in school achievment and behavior since the 1970's. Wonder why????

An illegal immigrant charged with trafficking cocaine worth millions of dollars suffered a massive stroke in the Douglas county jail....His medical bills ran over $400,000 & were charged to the county. The county will free this illegal mainly because THEY CAN NOT afford his medical bills. County jails all over the state face this same problem & some bring chronic illnesses to jail with them......So why don't we take the do-gooders (the folks who say we mistreat illegals) & let them pay or take care of these sick illegals??

Yep CG....Our sheriff says in the same article that Gwinnett county has paid $500,000 a year for medical care for illegals.....my tax $$ are going for this & I think of the people (older) who really need care & just can't afford it..something stinks in our system of justice.

When an illegal alien is caught, if he has any assests, they should be siezed. A task force consisting of an air plane and parachutes should load him into the plane, strap on a parachute, fly him back over Mexico and teach him the beauties of parachuting. If he is not a fast learner, so be it, he will not return. If he ever returns to this Country illegally, repeat the above without the parachute.
