Suspect arrested after resident spots him

    A Burke County man accused of fleeing from Columbia County deputies in a stolen vehicle was arrested late Tuesday.

    Sheriff's Capt. Steve Morris said Daryl Lynn Dye, 35, of Midville, was found in a wooded area near Westwood Club Apartments on Washington Road about 8:30 p.m. A woman alerted deputies when she saw a man trying to break into her car, Morris said.

    Dye faces numerous charges stemming from efforts to elude deputies earlier Tuesday near the Mullins Crossing shopping center on Washington Road in Evans.

    He was being held without bond in the Columbia County Detention Center, according to jail records.
