Died: Oct. 28, 2003, of non-combat related gunshot wound in St. Mere, near Fallujah.

Unit: S.C. Army National Guard's 122nd Engineer Battalion, based in Edgefield.

Family: wife, Rosa; three sons, Sharod, Lachadrick, and Norricco four daughters, Arista, April, Nonregal and Allisha.

Medals: Awarded a Purple Heart after he was wounded by shrapnel in August 2003.

Adams graduated from Butler High School in 1985. He served in the National Guard for about 17 years, family members told The Augusta Chronicle in 2003. He had been with the 122nd Engineer Battalion since March 2003.
