I voted on the Republican ballot in Richmond County's primary. I was disappointed not to find the ballpark straw poll questions on my ballot. I know if they were on there I would have certainly voted against a new taxpayer funded ballpark.

Don Rhodes' column about the 1967 song Ode to Billie Joe was one of the best columns I've read in a long time. Not only did it recount some of the lyrics of the song, but it also wondered where the writer/singer Bobbie Gentry was.
The mayor and commissioners must think we are awfully stupid out here in south Richmond County if they we will fall for this "we're cutting your tax rate" scam. Even someone who only completed fourth-grade math can figure out that lowering the millage rate one-tenth of a percent but jacking up assessments up to 40 percent equals an increase in property taxes. I've had my assessment raised three times in the last five years, though the market value of my home has actually decreased.
This is a rant for the person comparing Jackie Robinson to President Obama. That is an insult to Mr. Robinson and like comparing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to Jeremiah Wright. Mr. Robinson was a man of great humility and integrity while this president is a narcissistic liar. The only thing they have in common is skin color.

Aye had the pleasure of working with an out of town tech yesterday. He told me about the "atmosphere" of his hotel, how he "accidentally" drove into town from the west on Gordon Highway, and how he felt "physically threatened" when he simply went thru a drive thru.

Front page of the AJC...English service costly in courts...cities & counties in metro Atlanta are spending thousands of dollars a year on interpreter services in local courts for defendants who don't speak English....Gwinnett county spent $539,803 in 2009 on interpreters in its court system....How can anyone think we aren't paying through the ying-ying for illegals?????

The poor people in America live a lifestyle superiour to the richest of many nations on Earth. Without effort. Without earning it. So get off our (you know's) for being successful by working and earning success. Quit speaking for the "downtrodden" and "disadvantaged" because it SIMPLY... ISN'T... TRUE.
Sherrod says she's going to sue for her "out of context" remarks. Jimmy the Greek's family, Roy Campanella's family, Don Imus and a host of other persecuted people who had comments "taken out of context" and were FIRED will also sue for racial discrimination since the only difference between those I mention and Sherrod is Sherrod will never pay a tanning tax. I will sue those Africans who shouted "AMEN" and "RIGHT ON" during those "out of context" remarks.
The CSRA is similar to another area of the USA in that it's insulated from national trends. Business is booming here, and that isn't a rumor. We should all take a minute and thank God we can live in the best area of the USA: The CSRA (richmond county excepted, naturally).
