We all know that the mainstream media are a bunch of left-wing liberal Democrats. What I want to know is why your newspaper keeps the Associated Press as your news source. You know they are slanted against everything that Republicans are for. Sometimes I get so frustrated reading the newspaper I just want to throw it away and never pick it up again.
Putting Sarah Palin on the front page of Sunday’s issue is way off base. Seventy-five percent of the population do not support her for any future political positions. Her endorsements of the desperate candidates are a joke. To call any woman a “mama grizzly” is offensive to women in general. If your editorial staff continues to endorse her choices on the front page, you will surely lose readers by 2012.
It’s heartbreaking every time I hear of another service person killed or captured in Afghanistan. We need to get out and bring our troops home. America is spending so much in money and precious lives for a never-ending challenge. Those in power need to admit our efforts there are not appreciated.
If the officials in North Augusta accept the paving job done on paving Martintown Road, they need their heads examined. What a sick job.
This is a rave for Augusta State. I was in the psych program and watched evangelical students disrupt learning on a frequent basis. Kudos to ASU’s professors, who never treated those students with anything but patience and respect.
I strongly disagree with Jennifer Keeton’s stances on religion and homosexuality, but I feel like the administration of ASU has turned this into a complete debacle. A public academic setting is simply not the place to discourage nonviolent free speech.
I have news for Mayor Copenhaver: The 77 percent vote against a publicly funded ballpark in the Democratic straw poll was an understatement. I guarantee you Republican voters would have been against it in even higher numbers.
“Performance pay” for public schoolteachers is just another scandal waiting to happen. Hire a teacher, make a contract, and both sides live up to the contract. Anything else is absurd, and we’ll all lose. If you pay a teacher for performance, teachers will simply hand out A grades and then collect their ill-gotten bonuses.

The majority of political candidates who MRS Sarah Palin has endorsed have won their elections. No candidate that President Barack Obama has endorsed has won an election. Can you 'splain that to me, Lucy?

AC, keep the AP. There are plenty of ways that conservatives can read articles slanted to their views. I want all viewpoints, this country is diverse and we have a two-party system, not one.
I see plenty of AP articles that are critical of Obama, the war, etc. Guess they don't read the same articles that I do.
A teacher may be able to skew the classroom grades, but not the End of Course and Criteria Reference Competency Tests. These are state mandated, graded and determine if a school makes AYP. These test, Im sure, would be the deciding factor in determining if a teacher does or does not meet performance standards.

Sara Palin is a driving force in politics today. Conservative candidates seek out her endorsement. The ranter obviously doesnt know much about many, many mommas. WE are not offended by the mama bear analogy. We will and have defended our children like a grizzley, just like many of us are willing to defend our country.
Augusta, and indeed all school districts, need to check out the IMPACT program of the Washington, DC school system. They just fired 241 sub-par teachers and withheld the salary step increase of 700 more and put them on notice for being fired next year if they don't improve. They hired outside Master Educators to evaluate teachers during the school year and used that, in conjunction with some other benchmarks, to identify and weed out low performing teachers. We, unfortunately, have a system where we hire teachers based strictly on them getting their paperwork ticket punched (i.e. get a teaching degree from any diploma mill) and once in the system they are almost impossible to fire or be held accountable. The School Chancellor in D.C. is kicking butt and getting results. The gullible public needs to quit listening to the "just give us more money and everything will be okay" chant from the teachers and their powerful unions and instead start demanding accountability from this protected species who already draw a great salary, have great benefits, and a VERY generous retirement system.

Good morning all. So happy it's Thursday. Who am I kidding. Every day is Saturday for a retiree. If today is attack SARAH PALIN day, I will come to her defense. I have reservations about her, but she is an attractive, intelligent, and accomplished woman. Probably the reason a lot of women dislike her. Then there are those that will attack her because she is white. But by far, the most vicious attackers are the left wing media. The same people that were obsessed with destroying THE HONORABLE G.W. BUSH. The media along with 2 years of a democrat control of congress created such a mess that Alvin Greene would have won the presidency. We have reason now to hope for a better future. dumbobama bungled everything so badly that even those that thought "change" was synonymous with "good" have seen some light. Come on elections, and come on REPUBLICANS. Let AMERICA be great again. GOD BLESS AMERICA, OUR TROOPS, AND OUR VETERANS.

I am planning to move my family (my wife is currently pregnant) and extended family into Mexico. We plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas and passports. Please note that I will be expecting the following:
1. Free medical care for my entire family
2. All Mexican government forms need to also be printed in English
3. Schools need to include classes on American culture and history
4. I want my kids to see the American flag on one of the flag poles at their school
5. Please plan to feed my kids at school for both breakfast and lunch
6. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services
7. I do plan to get a car and drive in Mexico, but I don't plan to purchase car insurance
8. I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my house top and I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals
9. I expect to find a job without paying any taxes
10. Please tell all the Mexican people to be extremely nice and never say a critical thing about me or my family, or about the strain we might place on their economy

That she is. I am all for women succeeding in life; why wouldn't I be? That is not why I dislike her. She lacks character and integrity and is just plain dishonest, both in her personal life and in her professional life. She is driven by fame and publicity to the point where her children suffer. She is narcissistic and self-absorbed.
That's why I don't like her.

Corgi, it takes character and integrety to birth a special needs child in this day of easy/acceptable abortion. It takes character to stand up for citizen rights as she did in Alaska in regards to big oil companies. How has she been dishonest. Seems she has been downright open about her family and the situations of family members. How is she self-absorbed. She resigned as Gov due to the constant stream of (unfounded to this day) accusations by leftist backed s---stirrers. She is driven by a strong desire of independence and family. If she were narcissistic, she'd have a more up to date hair style. If I remember correctly, all the clothes she wore during the campaign had to be purchased for her. Dont see any selfserving/narcissistic trait there. Imho she is a strong woman who has been able to juggle her family and career, and do it with much success. If you are a married parent, you know the trails we endure to do both.

Little guessing game for the day:
WHO AM I?
I was born in one country, raised in another. My father was born in
another country.
I was not his only child. He fathered several children with numerous
women.
I became very close to my mother, as my father showed no interest in me.
My mother died at an early age from cancer.
Although my father deserted me and my mother raised me, I later wrote a
book idolizing my father -- not my mother.
Later in life, questions arose over my real name. My birth records were
sketchy. No one was able to produce a legitimate, reliable, birth
certificate.
I grew up practicing one faith but converted to Christianity, as it was
widely accepted in my new country, but I practiced non-traditional
beliefs and didn't follow Christianity, except in the public eye under
scrutiny.
I worked and lived among lower-class people as a young adult, disguising
myself as someone who really cared about them. That was before I decided
it was time to get serious about my life, and I embarked on a new
career.
I wrote a book about my struggles growing up. It was clear to those who
read my memoirs, that I had difficulties accepting that my father
abandoned me as a child.
I became active in local politics in my 30's then, with help behind the
scenes, I literally burst onto the scene as a candidate for national
office in my 40s.
They said I had a golden tongue and could talk anyone into anything. I
had a virtually non-existent resume, little work history, and no
experience in leading a single organization. Yet, I was a powerful
speaker and citizens were drawn to me as though I were a magnet and they
were small roofing tacks. I drew incredibly large crowds during my
public appearances. This bolstered my ego.
At first, my political campaign focused on my country's foreign
policy... I was very critical of my country in the last war, and seized
every opportunity to bash my country. But what launched my rise to
national prominence, were my views on the country's economy. I pretended
to have a really good plan on how we could do better, and every poor
person would be fed and housed for free. I knew which group was
responsible for getting us into this mess. It was the free market,
banks. and corporations. I decided to start making citizens hate them
and, if they became envious of others who did well, the plan was
clinched tight. I called mine "A People's Campaign". That sounded good
to all people.
I was the surprise candidate because I emerged from outside the
traditional path of politics and was able to gain widespread popular
support. I knew that, if I merely offered the people 'hope', together we
could change our country and the world. So, I started to make my
speeches sound like they were on behalf of the downtrodden, poor,
ignorant to include "persecuted minorities."
My true views were not widely known and I kept them unknown, until after
I became my nation's leader. I had to carefully guard reality, as
anybody could have easily found out what I really believed, if they had
simply read my writings and examined those people I associated with. I'm
glad they didn't.
Then, I became the most powerful man in the world, and the world learned
the truth. Who am I?
If even New York yankees realize it:
A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in New York finds that 45% of Likely Voters disagree with the Justice Department’s challenge, while 37% agree with it. Eighteen percent (18%) are not sure.
Nationally, 56% of voters disagree with the Justice Department’s challenge and just 28% hold the opposing view.
Support in New York for an Arizona-like immigration bill in their own state is one of the lowest levels measured in the country. Forty-seven percent (47%) favor such legislation in their own state, 14 points lower than the 61% measured nationally. Thirty-eight percent (38%) oppose similar legislation in New York, while 16% more are undecided.
Chillen, I don't see it that way. I see the court challenges as a good thing.
The illegal immigration to this country has become such a terrible problem that it can't be ignored any longer. It will become one of the major points, if not the biggest, of the next election.
Ignoring it, as previous Presidents have done, isn't working. Bush's ridiculous virtual security program and wall aren't working. So we now have to face, as a nation, what exactly we are going to do about it.
We can't afford all the illegals. Yet an employer can employ them, that's ok. We have to feed them, school them, take care of them, but we don't have the money to do it.
It's going to be very interesting to see what happens. I predict that if Arizona loses their case, the next thing is coming where they demand that the Federal gov't start paying for the illegals' costs. California is broke because of them, Arizona is next.
You can't sit on a fence forever.
