Comments from our readers:

KATHLEEN PARKER is nothing but a big mouth. She's anti-American. Why do you publish her stuff? This is ridiculous.

I'M GOING TO ASK The Augusta Chronicle to stop printing opinions from Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post Writers Group. He's the biggest racist and misrepresenter of the truth that I've read. Get rid of his lousy column and put somebody who's reliable in there.

IT IS A CRYING shame that Principal Wayne Frazier can get off from a DUI to a lesser charge, when a normal everyday Joe would be charged with a DUI and lose his license. What's Richmond County coming to?

I'M READING the front page headline in The Augusta Chronicle on Friday. It says many support education tax. That's because of the way the questions are asked. If the people start saying we don't support any tax except for the fair tax, then this would be a moot subject. I recommend and encourage all Georgians and South Carolinians, the next time you're asked if you support a tax increase or not, respond with these words: I support no tax increase, but I do support the fair tax. Maybe they'll finally get the message.

WITH OBAMA being the first black president, it takes me back to '47 when Jackie Robinson was the first black ballplayer to come into the major leagues. They called him all kinds of names. White racists tried to make him fail. But he took a lot. He turned out to be one of the best ballplayers of all time. President Obama will survive. And he will turn out to be one of the best presidents of all time.

THIS IS A RANT to the citizens of Richmond County. When are you going to realize that Mayor Deke Copenhaver hasn't done a thing for the people. He's a yes sir man, like a puppet on a string, and the big boys are pulling them.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! Criticizing our decent, respectable mayor will not benefit you. We love our Mayor Copenhaver, and he will be elected again. The majority speaks.

HOW SAD TO SEE the once brave NAACP now becoming politically desperate and using the race card. The NAACP has fallen mighty low.

MICHAEL SMITH -- whoever that is -- says we should oppose the Arizona immigrant law because the U.S. has "always opened our doors as much as we can to individuals who seek a better life." Never in history -- until both Bushes, Clinton and now Obama -- has the U.S. "opened our doors" to lawbreakers, and anybody who enters the U.S. illegally is a lawbreaker as soon as he steps on American soil without playing by the rules.

Mayor Copenhaver is a decent

Mayor Copenhaver is a decent and respectable Mayor and person. He is well liked, a nice guy and he certainly cares. However, he does need to be a leader, take a stance on issues and help guide our city through great leadership. He also needs to listen to the citizens on various issues to include the baseball stadium. Our Mayors isn't allowed a vote except to break a tie which is ridiculous and something he definetly should be working to change, even if for future Mayors. He deserves to be our Mayor again but many supporters would like to see him step up in the leadership role and speak his mind vs. hiding behind county lawyers or politically correct statements...just do what is right and do it well - Be a great leader and be our best Mayor.

ADP, BottleTek, ERS, ESI,

ADP, BottleTek, ERS, ESI, Global Emergency Resources, Tomberlin Group, Procter & Gamble, American Tire, American Eagle Airlines, etc???? The commission just voted to roll back taxes.... The Tee Center is under construction downtown.. When most people last year thought the TEE would'nt even happen. I clearly think Deke is a leader and a nice guy... The downtown Augusta skyline hasn't changed in years... Now the city will have a changing downtown and Medical District skyline. The 8 story $30 million Hyatt Place downtown, and the $112 million School of Dentistry in the MD... The future for Augusta and the CSRA is very bright.

Celebrities and people in certain positions frequently get special treatment.... The same goes for kids who have to get a public defender, versus teenagers who's parents can afford to hire them lawyers.... Wayne Frazier has improved the graduation rate at Glenn Hills and obviously has alot of supporters...

I actually like the way Deke

I actually like the way Deke leads our city... Quiet, behind the scenes, but get's the job done... Last year the Tee Center looked dead in the water during the David Fry fiasco... Today citizens can visit downtown and view the Tee Center construction.. I bet the people who left Augusta 10-20 years ago.. Mouths fall to the ground when the see the construction downtown and the new residential areas in Laney Walker...

"Criticizing our decent, respectable mayor"- hmm. I got the impression that people thought he was anything but decent and respectable when he proclaimed Gay Pride Day.

Guess not.

Actually, countyman, I've

Actually, countyman, I've been gone 7 years. No, my mouth did not fall to the ground. I literally cried when I saw how run-down Broad St, Wrightsboro Rd, and Walton Way looked.

I came in from North Augusta, that is beautiful and prosperous. Then I crossed the river.

The difference is heartbreaking.

"My son, pay attention to

"My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to a man's whole body. Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life."
(Proverbs 4:20-23)

Good mornin' hump day early birds and all those who tread herein. This is a fine day the Lord has given us. Let's be glad and rejoice we are all still here together in this mess. Follow the instruction handbook that our Father left for us and no matter what storm blows in, you can safely say, "This too shall pass." Jesus forgives..and so do I. Be assured, what God has blessed cannot be cursed. G'day.

A RAVE for the Urban

A RAVE for the Urban Dictionary word of the day:

a crapella -

Singing out loud while listening to music with your headphones on. Whereas the singer gets the benefit of the music, those unfortunate to be standing nearby are subjected to an unaccompanied (and invariably crappy) rendition of the song.

"I wish that guy would turn his iPod off - his a crapella version of Bohemian Rhapsody is killing me"

KATHLEEN PARKER ... Eugene

KATHLEEN PARKER ... Eugene Robinson... It's called "Freedom of Speech". It was in all the papers.

... when a normal everyday Joe would be charged with a DUI and lose his license. WRONG. Any person with the means to purchase a GOOD lawyer can get the same treatment Wayne got. Wealth envy anyone?

... I support no tax increase, but I do support the fair tax. Maybe they'll finally get the message. I will decline to start another tirade about the delusion of a "fair" tax.

.. President Obama will survive. Jackie Robinson was TALENTED. Analogy void.

... When are you going to realize that Mayor Deke Copenhaver hasn't done a thing for the people... We love our Mayor Copenhaver, and he will be elected again. The majority speaks. Equal opportunity on the Rants and Raves. Must be the print edition, for this kind of fairness simply doesn't exist on the online edition.

... The NAACP has fallen mighty low. As has all overtly racist groups.

...anybody who enters the U.S. illegally is a lawbreaker as soon as he steps on American soil without playing by the rules. While unfortunately it has become "tradition" for the federal gov to ignore enforcement of immigration law, to my limited knowlege, this is the first POTUS who's ever had a family member threatened with deportation. Don't expect any "reform" from this joke.

Obama has already sealed his destiny. No matter what race he is, he has put our country into a debt that will never be overcome. He is blind to the real problems and thinks he can fix everything by give away programs. He won't be re-elected if he isn't kicked out of office before then.

I can make a firm pledge,

I can make a firm pledge, under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.
Barack Obama

When Congress required most Americans to obtain health insurance or pay a penalty, Democrats denied that they were creating a new tax. But in court, the Obama administration and its allies now defend the requirement as an exercise of the government’s “power to lay and collect taxes.”

And that power, they say, is even more sweeping than the federal power to regulate interstate commerce.

Administration officials say the tax argument is a linchpin of their legal case in defense of the health care overhaul and its individual mandate, now being challenged in court by more than 20 states and several private organizations.

Hey all you PERFECT OBAMA SUPPORTERS: You support a liar. Maybe you should join the GOP. You'll fit right in.

Truth hurts: people who voted for Obobblehead cared not about his intent, for they are quick to forgive his lies. People who voted for Obowelmovement did not vote for change, they voted for fashion.
Barely Ocompetent needn't honor any of his pledges from the campaign, his supporters cannot think that far in the past.

Well, except for about 12% of the US, anyhow.

This fits into some of the

This fits into some of the R&R. A copy and paste from one of the hundreds of email's I get. It has been around but very accurate documented Facts.

With the elections just a little over 4 months away you'll soon be hearing some Democrats running for political office, warning how the Republicans want to take away the old people's Social Security. Here are some facts you can pass along to all friends in your book. Education is a good thing and these facts can be easily proven, look them up for yourself!

Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (& some older ones) didn't know this. It's easy to check out, if you don't believe it. Be sure and show it to your family and friends. They need a little history lesson on what's what and it doesn't matter whether you are Democrat or Republican. Facts are Facts.
Social Security Cards up until the 1980s expressly stated the number and card were not to be used for identification purposes. Since nearly everyone in the United States now has a number, it became convenient to use it anyway and the message, NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION, was removed.[9]

(Picture of the old SS card)
Look at yours ! :)
An old Social Security card with the "NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION" message.

Our Social Security

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social
Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be
Completely voluntary,

No longer Voluntary

2.) That the participants would only have to pay
1% of the first $1,400 of their annual
Incomes into the Program,

Now 7.65%
On the first $90,000

3.) That the money the participants elected to put
Into the Program would be deductible from
Their income for tax purposes each year,

No longer tax deductible

4.) That the money the participants put into the
Independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the
General operating fund, and therefore, would
Only be used to fund the Social Security
Retirement Program, and no other
Government program, and,

Under Johnson the money was moved to
The General Fund and Spent

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.

Under Clinton & Gore
Up to 85% of your Social Security can be Taxed

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are
Now receiving a Social Security check every month --
And then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of
The money we paid to the Federal government to 'put
Away -- you may be interested in the following:

------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- ----

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the
Independent 'Trust Fund' and put it into the
General fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically
Controlled House and Senate.

------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax
Deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- -----

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social
Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the
'tie-breaking' deciding vote as President of the
Senate, while he was Vice President of the US

------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- -

Q: Which Political Party decided to start
Giving annuity payments to immigrants?

AND MY FAVORITE:

A: That's right!

Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party.

Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65,
Began to receive Social Security payments! The
Democratic Party gave these payments to them,
Even though they never paid a dime into it!

------------ -- ------------ --------- ----- ------------ --------- ---------

Then, after violating the original contract (FICA),
The Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!

And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it!

Actions speak louder than bumper stickers.

Psst, make sure y'all check

Psst, make sure y'all check your pay stubs... notice the changes in your major medical deduction....
Wait till you file your taxes, you're in for a NASTY jolt: you now pay tax on the employer's contribution to your health care premiums as INCOME. For reasons which need no explanation, this advisory applies not to most DEM.
Thank a Democrat... in the way you best see fitting.

How can YOU stop this

How can YOU stop this madness? Reduce your withholding. Don't file your 1040. The IRS is ALREADY 5 years behind auditing. If tens of millions of us went on a "TAX STRIKE", the US Fed would be on it's knees by Nov.

What say you?
