DARLINGTON, S.C. --- Officials say a teenager died in a South Carolina public pool and another child was injured Saturday.
Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee told The Morning News of Florence that 13-year-old Justin McKay died Saturday. An autopsy was scheduled.
Hardee said the other child was being treated at a local hospital.
The two were at the Darlington City Pool when lifeguards cleared it because of bad weather. Once the pool was empty, workers noticed two people on the bottom of the deep end.
Hardee said there were three lifeguards on duty. It was the first day the pool was open for the summer season.
The State Law Enforcement Division and the Darlington County Sheriff's Department are investigating.
