Man's feet injured on MARTA train platform

ATLANTA --- A man suffered serious injuries to his feet when he got stuck between part of the platform and an oncoming MARTA train.

MARTA spokesman Lyle Harris told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the accident occurred at about 12:40 a.m. Saturday at the Edgewood-Candler Park MARTA station.

The 43-year-old, identified as Bruce Keith Small, remains at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Harris said Small tried to board a westbound train and fell backward off the platform.

Harris said the man was unable to get up before another westbound train approached.

Two women, baby are rescued in house fire

CARROLLTON, GA. --- Firefighters rescued two women and an infant from a burning home Sunday morning.

Carrollton Fire Chief Jimmy Bearden told Atlanta television station WSB that firefighters discovered the three people trapped when they responded to the fire.

Two women were taken to an Atlanta-area hospital and a baby was taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Ala.

Bearden said investigators believe the fire started in a carport, but the cause has not been determined.
