Rants and Raves

IN REFERENCE TO the fifth lane everyone is crying and begging for on Highway 56: We don't need a fifth lane out there; we need for people to slow down. The speed limit is 55, and I know for a fact that people are going 70-plus on that highway. That's 20 mph over the speed limit. They wonder why they have accidents. If you study the recent accidents, you'll see they're not at intersections; they're caused from idiots going too fast. Put cops out there giving tickets, and keep them out there.

QUESTION: Does anyone else dislike the funny little advertisement stickers on the front of the paper every day? I enjoy looking at the headlines, not the funny little advertising. The first thing I do is take it off and put it in the trash. I know there has to be advertising, but couldn't they put it somewhere besides the front of the paper?

THIS IS A BIG RAVE to whomever is responsible for the paving of Windsor Spring Road. It was long overdue but very much appreciated.

WHY DON'T Richmond County cops sit on Interstate 20 and arrest everybody for speeding? What a racetrack.

RANT TO THE Columbia County schools that closed in honor of Confederate Memorial Day. How absurd to celebrate something hateful and negative and expect anyone nonwhite to acknowledge it. Oh, and don't even try to compare this to MLK Day because that is celebrating peace and equality for all people, not hate and violence toward nonwhites.

TO THE TEACHER crying about his/her paycheck: At least you still have a paycheck. If you don't like your job, then give it to one of the thousands of unemployed textile workers (who never had June, July and August off).

IT'S ACTUALLY the ranters against Obama, with their overly emotional, illogical comments, that show a lack of critical thinking skills. Biggest one: Sarah Palin. She objects to Obama using any teleprompter but thinks it's OK to write and read from her hands like teenagers with crib notes.

OBAMA IS VERY upset because the people of Arizona insist on running their own state rather than let the place be overrun with illegal immigrants, dope sellers, human traffickers, etc. Why is Obama so obstinate about this? Could it be that Obama knows he is also an immigrant?

THE CITY OF AUGUSTA sank $6 million of our sales tax dollars into the Golf & Gardens site. Now a private developer wants to buy it for $2.8 million with the expectation of public money being used to help build a ballpark, yet we won't own the land it sits on. Is it just me, or does this sound like a bad deal?

Life imitates art. I watched

Life imitates art. I watched a 1993 episode of "Cheers" titled "Woody gets an election". A blowhard city councilman was running unopposed and (character names) Frasier said he could put Woody in the race and get 10% of the vote. Woody, not known for being the sharpest knife in the drawer, said he couldn't debate the incumbent. Frasier said that he could and gave him two pieces of advice. The first one I forget, but the second one was "say change about a hundred times".

Democracy and socialism have

Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word, equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude.

What Augusta's outer hwy

What Augusta's outer hwy problems are caused by are speeders to Vogtle and the other plants who work shifts in early hours....remedy this by building a raised hwy ext to traffic the long haulers w ramps down to the underhwy for entering and exiting plants and such...Vogtle needs a better way into it than the winding nightmare of a road they have now...

Don't waste money on print

Don't waste money on print when I have the same stuff here w/o ads...
Noted...
Racetrack? It's the Indy 500 on Washington Rd daily...if you slow-pokes would stay right traffic on I-20 might be safer...
Confederate Memorial Day is like the National Memorial Day in that it honors the war dead....the flag of the Confederacy should be flown at half-mast on this date to honor the soldiers who believed they were fighting a legitimate war and died in service to their country...Regardless how anyone feels about the war between the states, the giving honor to the war dead is a ritual of ancient design and should be respected, if done w decency and humility and not done to offend others...
Amen...be glad you are working and hold down the noise cuz there are plenty more where you came from..lots of grads waiting for your job.
Sling, sling goes the mud....See the mud sling...See how the mud remains the same...Sling, Sling, Sling....
More power to the state's rights...less to the feds, head 'em up, move 'em out, RAW-HIDE...
The city leaders believe that dressing up the downtown with pretty storefronts and casual dining spots, new hotels and sport venues all add up to tax revenue that is badly needed and they will make a deal w the devil and waste tons of cash to accomplish the next foolhardy scheme on their idiotic agenda...clean up the roads and crime, fund good public education and get rid of the slums and build affordable housing and we might consider agreeing w some of the stupid ideas presented at our expense...
That's all I got...Doc, still wonderin' whassup? Hit me back. The rest of my fine feathered friends..ya'll fly high today like the eagle and don't let those turkeys get ya down, remember Thanksgiving is always just around the bend in our minds...so rejoice in this day, be glad...it's another wonderful opportunity to get to know the One Who made it for us to enjoy...Peace out.

A Rave for the peaceful

A Rave for the peaceful tranquility of a May Day Saturday morning before the madness starts. So whether you are a pole-wrapping Pagan, a pro-immigration supporter, or merely a dyed-in-the-wool Communist, have a wonderful day! Make it memorable!

Good Morning America. A small

Good Morning America.
A small thought between all the Rants & Raves:

Your cell phone is in your pocket.
He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags.

He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.

You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.
He patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.

He's told he will be held over an extra 2 months.

You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight.
He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.

You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday.
He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume.

You roll your eyes as a baby cries.
He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet.

You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything.
He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting.

You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him.

He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded.

You see only what the media wants you to see.
He sees the broken bodies lying around him.

You are asked to do some thing by your parents. You don't.
He does exactly what he is told even if it puts his life in
Danger.

You stay at home and watch TV.
He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat.

You crawl into your soft bed, with down pillows, and get
Comfortable.
He tries to sleep but gets woken by mortars and helicopters all night long.

REMEMBER our Troops, and do not forget them LATER
Lest we forget -

I work in a Columbia County

I work in a Columbia County school, and I was teaching on Confederate Memorial Day. Textile workers are welcome to become a teacher, however they need at least a bachelor's degree and certification from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. Go for it!

Woa, oh, oh, oh For the

Woa, oh, oh, oh
For the longest time
Woa, oh, oh
For the longest

If you said goodbye to me tonight
Oh the music I could write
What else could I do
I'm so disgusted by you
That hasn't happened for the longest time

Once I thought my cynicism was gone
Now I know that the evil it goes on
That's why you find me
Slamming Obowelma and Congress daily
They’ve been corrupted for the longest time

Woa, oh, oh, oh
For the longest time
Woa, oh, oh
For the longest

When it comes to screwing Obowow’s got us all
He intends to keep the dumb masses in his thrall
And what makes me sad is
They’ve got no idea how bad it is
They haven’t reasoned for the longest time

Maybe this won't last very long
4 Long years and many protest songs
2012 will be the judgment day
To make them fade away
And leave us more of what we worked for

Who knows how much further we'll go on
I'll sure won’t be sorry when you're gone
It promised changes
Your personal account he rearranges
Congress’ has needed flushing for the longest time

Woa, oh, oh, oh
For the longest time
Woa, oh,oh
For the longest time
Woa, oh, oh
For the longest time
Woa, oh, oh,
For the longest time

Go for it get your degree and teach away. Also we don't have August off we return to work August 4th.
