Rants & Raves

Comments from our readers:

Oh, the outrage! The outrage! How dare the duly elected representatives of the majority party pass this behemoth bill against the wishes of Republicans? Oh, the folly of the Democratic process! Change the Constitution immediately! Prevent something like this from ever happening again! I see it coming now - why, in just 90 days my brother with high blood pressure will have access to a high risk pool so that he can get proper treatment. And - can you believe it? - in six months I can't have my insurance yanked because I get sick. It's the end of the world as we know it! And I feel fine!

This is a rave for the Democrats in Congress who voted for the health care bill. Obama tried bipartisanship, but the Republicans became the party of "no" even when he used many of their ideas. Ronald Reagan once argued that Medicare would mean the end of American freedom, but I don't see many seniors today refusing to use Medicare. This health care bill is a victory for American progress.

To the ranter who called those who opposed the health plan idiots: Since there about 2,700 pages pertaining to the health plan and you're so intelligent, I'm sure you sat down and read every page. If Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are almost broke, how can another government proposal stay solvent? The government wants to cover 32 million in the first 10 years. Have you considered how many more million new patients would enter the plan after the next 10 years?

Rep. John Barrow claims he voted against Obama's health care scam bill because "folks can't afford ... the taxes." Barrow claims to be a lawyer, but uses the wrong excuse. Barrow knows the whole affair - the bill and the snaky methods to get it through Congress - is unconstitutional and crooked, yet he claimed he couldn't decide how to vote until the last minute.

This health care takeover was not of the people, by the people, or for the people.

It was a sad day Sunday. Georgia Tech lost on the basketball court, and the American people lost in the halls of Congress.

I believe the Democratic push for health reform will be the end of the Democratic Party as we know it because they are ignoring the voice of the people who voted them in. As of today I will no longer vote as a Democrat.

A rave for the Augusta Museum of History for installing the golf statues in the rotunda of the museum. I can't think of a better place for them. While you are at the museum, visit the Tourism Center and learn of all the other wonderful activities available and places to visit in Augusta.

“You cannot legislate the

“You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. “When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.” Adrian Pierce Rogers Call the Republicans or conservatives mean or stupid or anything else you want but in reality, the above is as true as it gets and thus far EVERY entitlement program our government has tried has done nothing to better society, to the contrary it simply enables individuals and therefore they become more reliant on the government which is exactly what our current leaders want. Many Democrats also know this and tried to put and end to this stupidity but unfortunatley, more recieved underhanded deals for their areas in order to buy their votes so get ready hard working Americans, they are about to put it to us again.

This is why Obama won the election.

Number of States won by: Obama: 19 McCain: 29
Square miles of land won by: Obama: 580,000 McCain: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by:
Obama: 127 million McCain: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
Obama: 13.2 McCain: 2.1

In aggregate, the map of the territory McCain won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.

Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low income tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

The United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to thirty million criminal invaders called illegal’s and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in the very near future.

And he was elected because of his ability to lie and have the Independents and RINOS believe him.

CNN..........
59% oppose the Democrats’ health care bill, while only 39% favor it.

· 70% say the federal budget deficit will go up under the Democrats’ health care bill; only 12% believe it will go down.

· 56% say the bill creates “too much government involvement in the nation's health care system,” 28% say about the right amount, while 16% say not enough.

· 62% say they'll pay more for medical care under the Democrats’ health care bill.

· 47% say they and their families will be worse off under the Democrats’ health care bill; 33% say things will be about the same, and only 19% think they’ll be better off.

· 45% say seniors on Medicare will be worse off; 34% say things will be about the same, and only 20% think they’ll be better off.

Numbers like those suggest the unreality of the Democrats' assumption that, as the smoke clears from the debate and people become more familiar with what's actually in the bill, they will become more favorably disposed to it in th

Political tags - such as

Political tags - such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth - are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire.

I really love it when you

I really love it when you Republicans spew, foam and convulse, especially when the peoples' voices have been heard. It's NOT a takeover, Social security would be solvent if Republicans hadn't raided the excess for years. Medicare would be better if Republicans hadn't cut it for years. This plan incorporates MANY of the ideas that Republicans put forth when they opposed the Clinton reform plan, proving that their opposition is purely political, not for the good of the people. As in the election, Republicans use lies and fear to persuade their own and those who are easily led. Hey Crackerjack....you left out the number of votes that McCain and the Republicans LOST by!

You people that are gloating

You people that are gloating now, will be singing a different tune in the future when there is even a more severe shortage of doctors and health care than there is now. What will you do when you get cancer or some other disease and have to wait 6 months to get an appointment to see a health care provider and then wait another 6 months to be scheduled for chemo or other treatment. I agree with Asitis & Crackerjack. As to the ranter about seniors using medicare, I have worked and paid into it since 1960 (fifty years for those of you who are math impaired), am still working full time and paying into it, and I intend to use it any time I need it since I was forced to pay into it in the first place!

The ugly will really come in

The ugly will really come in when the gloaters realize it's gonna hit their pocketbook too! Come one come all and watch as bankruptcies and foreclosures rise right before your eyes. Watch as your paychecks drop by as much as 40% due to taxes on your insurance premiums. Yes you did a wonderful thing, now pay for it!!

I am not stressing over the DEM's attempted takeover. There's many loopholes in the law for a "guy like me" to manipulate.
I'll have a course available soon for single celled organisms who wish to do the same.

Why are they calling it the

Why are they calling it the Healthcare plan? It's full of too much other stuff and fluff. It's not strictly healthcare in this bill. I'm still trying to muddle through it. Whether you realize it or not, part of it is being funded by the so-called education fund. I've been on both sides of the fence and realize republicans have democratic tendencies and vice versa for democrats. This shouldn't be about party lines, it should be about how is this getting funded and do we really want the governement taking over. Remember people, Hitler started the same way before he went nuts!

Good luck enforcing this. I love the "exception" part... -

ATLANTA (AP) - The Georgia House has approved a measure to outlaw the hallucinogenic herb salvia.

The House on Monday voted 162-2 for a bill which would make it illegal to possess, buy, sell or cultivate salvia in Georgia. An exception was made when the plant is used for landscaping or other aesthetic purposes.

Why do the democrats believe

Why do the democrats believe that the republicans were 100% against every item on the bill? Only the most simplistic minds could believe that!! Republicans as well as democrats face health issues and see the same bills arrive in our mail boxes.

Many of the parts have merit and we were in agreement with, but many parts we disagree with. The democrats were completely partisan about the development of the bill and formed it behind closed doors. Republicans and their input was unwelcome.

The vast majority of our citizens(no matter which polls one chooses to accept) don't trust the bill and did not want it! It was FORCED on them. Why didn't the democrats pay attention to them? The bill has yet to be signed and yet already ten states have filed lawsuits against this bill and we can expect many more to follow. For the rest of his term Obama's bill is going to be in court and people are going to be sick and tired of what he and his party instigated.

November's elections will reflect the displeasure of the citizens and in 2012 we will be welcoming a new president.
