Teenager is struck by bullet at apartments
A 16-year-old Lucy C. Laney High School student was wounded by a stray bullet Sunday at River Glen Apartments.
The teen was shot in his right thigh about 2:30 p.m., while he was walking in the courtyard by the "J" building at 201 E. Telfair St., a Richmond County sheriff's report says.
Investigator Sean Cochran said the victim was treated at Medical College of Georgia Hospital and is expected to recover fully.
Investigators learned that the stray bullet was fired after a fight between two people, Cochran said. Investigators are still trying to determine the identity of the shooter.
While officers were investigating, there was another report of gunfire at the apartment complex, Cochran said.
A bullet entered an occupied apartment, but no one was injured.
Investigators are looking for Omar Zakaria Morris, 18, of 420 East Boundary in connection with the second shooting.

Man attacked, robbed at gunpoint on street
A 36-year-old Augusta man told officers he was attacked and robbed at gunpoint Sunday morning while walking on Lumpkin Road.
The man said he was walking in the 2100 block about 7 a.m. and was talking on a cell phone when two men approached him and demanded money, a Richmond County sheriff's report says.
One of the robbers struck the man in the face with a handgun, and the other struck him from behind, he said. He was also hit in the back of the head with a handgun.
The robbers stole the man's cell phone and about $180.
The victim was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital.
I guess shootings have become so common placed that it doesn't faze anyone enough to comment on it; what a shame.
You know what I wish the AC would do? The Charlotte Observer, every Sunday, prints a Police Blotter of all the major crimes that occur for the week, all over the city. It's 2 pages, usually. Streets are in alpahbetical order by police sectors and crimes. It is avidly read. No names are printed, just "XXX block of YYY Ave." People talk about it all the time, and it helps to know what crimes are happening in the neighborhood. I wish the AC would do the same. It would open up a lot of people's eyes and make the community safer.
Two thieves- brothers- were caught in my neighborhood. They were 15 and 16. Everybody knew from the paper that there were break ins, and so they started watching very carefully. They were caught, and the landlord of the property evicted the mother.
It would do wonders, and is a terrific public service.
I drove down obacco road tonight and guess what, the radar unit was still sitting there in his standard place. I wonder if they were patrolling the neighborhoods if it wouldmake a difference? Of course I am not a law enforcement professional, just an average citizen who wants some police protection. I guess to some in charge radar income is more important than police protection. But again I am not a professional.
