Rants & Raves

Comments from our readers:

Taxes on my little house rose $44 per month. That's my water bill. Will garbage pickup cuts help me to pay my water bill? I have never had kids in school. Will the teachers' cuts help me to pay school taxes and help me to stay in my home of 20 years? Cheese 'n' rice, we all need help.

Question: How in the world did the most prosperous, largest, industrialized country in the world, the United States of America, ever need to have to borrow money from China to begin with? That's absurd to even think about. And who broke America? Who put all these people out of work? I am an American and I'm demanding an answer from this president y'all put in office.

I say hallelujah to the person who said to leave our president alone. He is doing as much as he can in just one year. Rome wasn't built in a day. Is it because he is so good looking? Leave him alone, and let him work and try to get the job done he's trying to do for all of us.

This rant is for the Democrats that are selling their soul to put this county into socialism.

It's disgusting and maybe even criminal for the city of Aiken officials to continue their spending spree while the school systems are shutting down programs and furloughing teachers. The city cannot even see past the politicians, merchants and developers to even be aware that there is a resident class. A crime to starve education while spending millions on small parks, museums and depots that the public had no chance to vote on.

Reading the comments in The Augusta Chronicle about the free school lunches and breakfasts, I wonder why these people can't feed their own children. If you can't feed your children, why do you keep having more children? Why do so many people continue to want handouts? Why don't they go to work or do without?

Is there a way the Masters can come more than once a year so the city can be spruced up more than once a year?

Let me get this straight. We're trying to pass a health care plan written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn't read it but exempts itself from it, to be signed by a president that also hasn't read it and who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke. What the heck could possibly go wrong?

What would happen if a married female golfer had affairs with 14 guys? Do you think she would be invited back to play golf in the LPGA? Maybe there is a double standard for the sexes.

Read my lips...death and

Read my lips...death and taxes...a sure thing, both.
Nixon to Q1; Insurance companies and banks, Q2; large companies who send jobs out of the country because gov't subsidized their doing so, Q3.
Your demands are addressed to the wrong person...demand the voters change their minds next election.
Looks like Rose got a rave printed...
County or country..is this a typo?
Politics as usual it sounds like.
We can't feed our children because gov't subsidies to farmers keep them from growing crops, jobs disappear to our enemies and third world trading partners, unemployment running out and stores closing because they can't afford to stay open and fuel costs rising due to our Saudi friends...the next job to disappear could be yours...so be careful what you wish for.
Once a year is enough Master's, perhaps what should happen is people starting to care again...taking care of their own property, including slum lords and tenants of the same. Volunteers could make a difference.
What could go wrong? We could devolve into anarchy...and then you'd have another civil war. But what, me worry?
They still call it a "man's world." Maybe that's why.
Well, it's another Naturday...ya know, the tv ads for Natural Light?..Hey, CBBP, what's cookin'? First day of Spring is now in session...go grab a friend n sit on the porch n watch the sun rise, listen to the sounds of nature's music, and when life's music screams back atcha, remember that this is the day the Lord has made...be glad and rejoice in it. It's 420 somewhere...ya'll play nice and go turn that earth up and plant something beautiful that you can consume later. Yeah, you know what I mean.

The original purpose for

The original purpose for starting the Free/Reduced Lunch program was to stablize food prices while using farm surpluses to feed the needy. 60 years later, I challenge anyone to find a farmer who is directly participating or benefiting from this program. It made sense then, it doesn't now. http://www.fns.usda.gov/cnd/Lunch/AboutLunch/ProgramHistory_4.htm

Raver 3 - Rome did, however, burn in a matter of days. The collapse of the empire didn't take long either. It seems Obama is trying for an encore performance.

It is my understanding that

It is my understanding that Jimmy Carter was the first president to borrow money. If I am wrong, I apologize. If I am correct, Carter needs to apologize. We, America, were never supposed to borrow money from anyone!! We were the most blessed country in the world, and just look at what `bleeding hearts' have done to us.

I agree with the comment about the free lunches, parents are taking advantage of this program. When they live in 2 or 3 hundred thousand dollar home's and drive big SUV's and their children/child are on free lunches...come on who is checking the information on those applications?

*Make sure you read the 28th

*Make sure you read the 28th Amendment at the end.

FINALLY SOME ONE ASKED HIM THE QUESTION ON "ABC-TV" Monday, October 12, 2009 DURING THE "NETWORK SPECIAL ON HEALTH CARE".

OBAMA WAS ASKED: "MR. PRESIDENT, WILL YOU AND YOUR FAMILY GIVE UP YOUR CURRENT HEALTH CARE PROGRAM AND JOIN THE NEW 'UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE PROGRAM' THAT THE REST OF US WILL BE ON?"

THERE WAS A STONEY SILENCE AS OBAMA IGNORED THE QUESTION AND CHOSE NOT TO ANSWER IT! IN ADDITION, A NUMBER OF SENATORS WERE ASKED THE SAME QUESTION AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS, "WE WILL THINK ABOUT IT." AND THEY DID. IT WAS ANNOUNCED TODAY ON THE NEWS THAT THE "KENNEDY HEALTH CARE BILL" WAS WRITTEN INTO THE NEW HEALTH CARE REFORM INITIATIVE ENSURING THAT CONGRESS WILL BE 100% EXEMPT!

SO, THIS GREAT NEW HEALTH CARE PLAN THAT IS GOOD FOR YOU AND I IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR OBAMA, HIS FAMILY OR CONGRESS!!!!

******************************************************

WHAT!!!!???

The Republic of the United States of America has a CONSTITUTION?

Amendment 28.....Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators or Representatives, and Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States .

Jane18 @ 8:30: Bleeding

Jane18 @ 8:30:

Bleeding hearts and greedy hearts. Looting pension plans and stockholders ranks right up there with political corruption for evil.

But we basically did to ourselves. I realize this is an over-simplification of the process, but nevertheless, instead of everyone stepping back and exercising some self-control and mature judgment, we just got greedier and more addicted to the things advertising showed us we absolutely had to have to be acceptable.

And when capitalism stopped working so successfully because of government restrictions, the exponential growth in worker pay and the obscene salaries and bonuses for company executives, where but the government did we think people were going to start looking for help to keep up their standard of living? After all, between FDR and LBJ, and other assorted profligate lunatics, all but a few of us know with unwarranted conviction that the great welfare bosom is there to comfort and feed us whenever it's wanted.

One is force to ask why so many of us have opted for self-gratification and "living in the moment", as compared to our antecedents who were prepared to die rather than submit to government interference and tyranny. Could it be a loss of an awareness or any interest in transcendence and eternity, of being human beings, persons rather than merely the most evolved primate? How did that happen I wonder.

It should have been a wake up call for us when big corporations had to choose between folding and moving their production plants to third world countries in order to turn a profit for stockholders.
