"Good riddance to Dana Bedden". Yep, that's right, let's get your boy Charles Larke back, or another intellectualy challenged person like him.
Comments from our readers:
I'm making my annual phone call to ask you to discontinue Rants & Raves during Masters Week because I really don't want people from out of town, our visitors, to know how stupid our citizens are. The Rants & Raves do nothing but illustrate the stupidity of our citizens in print.
What do you have to do to get through to people in this day and age? We were all taught to pick up after ourselves. If people picked up their own trash and put it where it was supposed to go, in the trash bin, we wouldn't have litter lying around everywhere. It's common sense, people. Pick up after yourself and then we wouldn't have the place looking like a trash heap. Augusta is the Garden City. We need it to look nice all year and not just Masters Week.
Good riddance to Dana Bedden. Our gain is Texas' loss. Now maybe the schools of Richmond County can move forward and we can get something done about this gang violence and the school dropouts.
Rave to the James Brown Arena managers. It looks like top names are coming back to Augusta after a very long hiatus.
You must admit Obama is brilliant person. And I trust him.
Did I imagine it, or wasn't there a pretty bad earthquake or two that hit Chile? Haven't seen any telethons and haven't read of any organized collections of goods. Guess someone decided they don't need any extra help.
Well, Bush had four of his last eight years to slide this country down so badly that an overwhelming majority made sure there was change. Obama's got another almost three years, and I'm sure he will do much better in climbing us out of Bush's morass than any Republican could. Now to make sure there is some form of health insurance plan.
If the city puts into effect plans to reduce garbage pickup service in any way, I will expect my property tax to be reduced accordingly. The cost of garbage pickup was added to our tax bill when the city took over this service.
Dear Dad: It's not too late to be the father that I need, someone to come by more than just a few hours a couple of times a year when you live just a few miles away; to take just a minute or two to see how my day went; to come to my activities so I can make you proud. You may think that my accomplishments show that you aren't important or needed, but think of how much brighter I'd shine with your help.
"Good riddance to Dana Bedden". Yep, that's right, let's get your boy Charles Larke back, or another intellectualy challenged person like him.
Yes, Obama is brilliant. He persuaded voters to vote for him, with no experience, and told them what they wanted to hear, only to find out now it was just a bunch of lies. (The War, Gitmo, Transparency, 72 hours for the public to see a bill, etc.)I sure hope him and his wife Nancy pass this health care bill, as the wicked witch will be knocked off her throne this November, and have to give up her big jet. And boy are the Dems living up to their Avatar.
To the first Ranter... It's not the people that write in the R&R that makes Augusta look ignorant, it's people like you, that probably drive in the left lane and refuse to give a turn signal. And I'm pretty sure no one has forced you to read the R&R. Don't like it! Don't read it!
Comments are opinions mostly and some are statements of fact, either way both are indispensable in making clear communication of ideas and preferences when debating in a forum such as this. All input is viable, valuable, and represents a cross-cultural slice of Augusta's population and includes former residents. I hardly think the comments reflect stupidity because in technological age where folks often are texting instead of sitting in front of a full keyboard, they send before editing...we show mistakes in grammar often as a tool for emphasis and to reflect times past...we share comraderie and often agree to disagree. I, for one, think the AC has been successful with creating and continuing to adjust parameters for discussion to reflect order of some form. I applaud this forum and each participant for their input and often sadly to some it may be their sole lifeline at times...but friendship here is reflected. Don't we want visitors to understand we can be tempermental but remain temperate? Civil yet disagreeable? Doesn't our kindness when socializing outside the virtual realm reflect genuine southern hospitality...which is the very thing visitors enjoy the most? Doesn't the blend of sophisticate and redneck blend well here? We are learning to live together and are trying to finally improve what can be fixed, make wrongs right, change our social attitudes, and more and more I see volunteers doing things as simply responsible adults giving back to their community...we are starting to comer back if anything,. and with that change is friction, sometimes violent, some are natural born haters, and some friction comes from our resistance to change...if we want to hate we should just leave...find a place where we can get our own act together...hate does not one right. SO to ranter #1...I whole-heartedly DISAGREE.
I disagree about trash being all a irresponsible act. Trash happens when something is snatched out a window by the wind...trash happens when your baby's dirty diaper is ruining your trip and there's not another exit for 50 miles...Trash happens when you sell alcohol to someone who is clearly about to fall down already....Trash happens when your dogs get into your things while you're at work and you only get three days a month with your family...(Go figure)...Trash happens when you beat your kid on a regular basis...Trash happens when you dishonor your word...Trash happens when you don't teach respect and values to your child....Trash happens when you are irresponsible with your actions...I think we get the picture...The reasons above are why we have trash in the first place...and I'm sure others can add to this.
Bedden's old news..can we talk about something else?
Noted.
Baiting...shame on you, ACES.
CHILE? Really?....You obviously have been disconnected...check your power button and tune in....Haiti got the coverage it did and still does because of how badly it destroyed a large portion of a densely populated area and made an impoverished many into a nightmarishly even poorer country of people....Chile is well equipped with much more than Haiti to deal with something that is more frequent there...Though it caused a lot a damage etc, it did not cripple Chile like Haiti was....
Politicizing....propaganda.
The city's position is that they have to reduce services because they can't afford the service you now get with taxes they now get from you...so, if the service is reduced it's to prevent future costs immediately...don't think you'll get your bill reduced...be glad they didn't raise taxes before...it would have cost you twice as much.
Very sentimental ACES...almost mushy...
...a real tear jerker....this too, is propaganda....
Wow! That's it? That all ya got?....You folks remember what I always say, It's always 420, no matter where you are..stop for a moment and take stock of your self, begin your day with a smile, and know that this, too, shall pass..."This is the day the Lord has made, I will be glad and rejoice in it."...that's how I begin my day...and I'm so glad I do...Ya'll play nice..the Visitors are already here....
A bad day with Bush (and yes there were some) is far better than any day we have had thus far with Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and Frank...Bush's problems became much worse when the democrats controlled congress and therefore spending once again became out of conrtol, unfortunately with his support in many instances. However, now, in just over a year, this administration has put us further in debt than Bush did in 8 years, even after a major terror attack on our country. If this stupid and idiotic health care bill passes we will go much further in debt and like it or not, taxes will raise for the middle class. It is time for people to take self responsiblity and take care of theirselves as this in NOT the job of government. Yes, we should help those who are unable, not unwilling, such as mentally challenged and elderly but beyond that, get a job and take care of yourself. This enabling administration is helping to "keep people down" and does nothing to instill pride in anyone. The lies this administration has told are just as bad as the ones told by the Bush administration. We need change alright but all we received was a true politician wiht Obama and our democratic congress is a joke - they could care less what we think, say or need.
To the ranter who stated, "Now to make sure there is some form of health insurance plan"; there are insurance plans. Pay for your own. Get a job. Stop depending on the government to provide everything. Do you even understand where the government gets their power and their money from?
Can anyone list Bedden's accomplishments as RCBOE Superintendent?
Zeno- my parents raised 5 children, and that included 2 cross-Atlantic trips. NEVER did my parents throw out a diaper alongside a road. NEVER. I raised a child. NEVER did I dispose of a diaper anywhere but a trash recepticle.
When you have a child in diapers, you know what to expect. To throw out a dirty diaper for someone else to deal with is just nasty, trashy, and lowdown. That is someone acting worse than an animal. That is NOT an acceptable reason.
Just because Obama may be brilliant doesn't make him trustworthy. I'm sure there are many war lords, mafia leaders, dictators, and crooks who are brilliant, but they are not trustworthy.
morning all
corgi, i should hope your parents never threw a diaper out of a window during those cross atlantic trips.....air planes dont appreciate things like that
I don't have to admit Obama is brilliant. He's somewhat photogenic and he reads a fine teleprompter. (he deserved his grammy for reading his book on tape) but how smart do you have to be to not realize that socialism NEVER has worked, ever. History tells story after horror story of the failed attempts of socialism. Cuba is a current story of enslavement and sorrow and Canada, only slightly socialist, can only exist as a parasite on the U. S. . Brilliant? not hardly
Good riddance to Bidden? Yeah, now we can goes back to da way tings useta was.
Isn't Chile a white nation? I've never been there.
I am not particularly fond of diaper throwing. When I had kids in diapers, I kept glad bags in the car just in case. Poor Bush. I'll say one thing though. According to the Bush Haters, he did more than any previous president.
fatboy - while not a fan of public heathcare, I will say that getting your own healthcare could be made more affordable. Employed by a large national company, I pay just over $ 600 a month for a family coverage. If I were earlier in my career or trying to start over in this economy where finding a job for even double minimum wage can be a challenge, I would probably have to do without insurance altogether.
Is Bush still in office?
Re rant #5. Congratulations Rose. You got one published.
ChillieWillie, could that be a precursor??
Trash may soon be the least of your worries. Some cities are bankrupt and unable to provide anything but the most basic services. Kansas has closed 1/2 of it's schools because they can't afford to offer that service. If you think it has been bad, just wait. The worst ain't behind us. Obama's goal seems to be to spend us into oblivion. Is it too soon to start impeachment?
CBBP, good morning, kind sir. Perhaps. More than likely it's a boil.
Anyone who thinks that a new superintendent is going to rid RC of gang violence and high drop out rates is dillusional. It's like saying getting a new paster in church is going to stop everyone from sinning. Heck, the court released Mr. Nipple after hearing his Mom tell the court he is a nice church going boy. So were the child-molesting catholic priests. Point being, no new superintendent is going to solve the systemic issues of legal tolerance, poor parenting and the seeming absence of basic moral values.
Get em, Marty. I love it when we agree.
CorgiMom....you really need higher brain functions to understand how I intended the comment...it was innuendo wrapped up with a few factuals thrown in....FACT IS, diapers get thrown alongside the road...usually because some folks don't prepare, aren't considerate of the one they leave for another to pick up and dispose of properly...BUT IT HAPPENS...which was my point and why I began each example with..."Trash happens when...." I'm glad you and your parents met w the minimum socially acceptable behavior and did not violate littering laws nor disrespect your fellow man by acting irresponsibly...thank-you. No one ever accused you either so you don't have to come off as so defensive when you post....When the big 'I' is the focus it says a lot about your perspective and the skew which follows it....just an observation, not really a criticism. Be happy, be blessed. Don't be happy, don't be blessed....it's up to you.
CBBP, where's the mornin' breakfast menu? Did I already miss breakfast? G'mornin' kind sir.
