Rants & Raves

If Obama is looking out for the welfare of our families, why is he cutting down 20 percent of the Medicaid payments to doctors. Many doctors have said that they will no longer take Medicaid patients anymore because they cannot afford to wait on their payments. Obama is not looking out for anybody but his own re-election, which he’s not going to get.

MCG students, ASU students, working in the medical field is very honorable. I feel so sorry for all of you. I hope it works out that you can finish your education. What they are trying to do with all these cuts is not fair. You’ve worked so long and hard to get to where you graduate. I hope things work out.

I’m calling concerning
the funding cuts for the Medical College of Georgia. It seems strange that Georgia can build a satellite college in Athens and have the money for that, but yet the campus in Augusta will have classes closed down when we have already heard that there’s a shortage of nurses. Something in the pot does not smell right.

I’d like to give thanks and praise to New Life Worship Center. Finally, a church is interested and cares enough about the violence that’s going on in the area that they are mentoring and trying to do something about it.

This is a rant for the railroads.
I can’t get to the airport. I’ve been sitting looking at this train for 20 minutes, and it’s not even moving. So I’ll probably miss my flight. So much for fly there and fly home. They need to do something about these railroads in this town.

I have always voted
for the individual, not the party. I do not need or want to be forced to pay a monthly fee for health insurance. Should the Democrats force a bill through that will require me to have this, then I would be forced to become a Republican.

The liberal news media personalities who make millions in salaries have no right to promote wage control of outstanding business people who made this country what it is. What happened to “free enterprise”?

Way to go, Fort Gordon.
This rant is for you. With the current gate closures, it now takes at least 45 minutes to leave out Gate 2. When I contacted the proper channels, I was told,  “Sorry, we don’t have the manpower to use Gate 3. ”  Our soldiers work long hours as it is. Great planning by the higher-ups. I am sure they are not waiting in those lines.

This is a rant about North Augusta Public Safety, which is already setting up speed traps on Palmetto Parkway. So public be aware that they are going to save your life if you are doing 61.

The U.S. Senate
votes no on giving seniors a $250 check to make up for the absence of any increase in Social Security, but it’s willing to give $6 billion for caulking your house.

I find it interesting that the Fort Gordon gate traffic ranter is worried about leaving work, not delays in getting there. It makes ya wonder..... w00t!

They have to get to their favorite watering hole before somebody else takes "their" stool.

ColdBeerBoiledPeanuts

The bar stools at my watering hole have name plaques and seatbelts! Hic!!

The President wants to cut reimbursement payments to doctors because MEDICARE IS GOING BROKE. What part of that do people not understand?

ColdBeerBoiledPeanuts

Call me Koo Koo for Coco Puffs, but I agree with Justus4 on his 2:28! (Or maybe I didn't use my seatbelt!)

Today's special Coffee is 10-W-40, The pastry is a Strawberry Beighnet, and the lunch special today is Eel and Grits, complete with lumps(just like Mom used to make)! While listening to C-SPAN there was a democrat who was totally against any type of tort reform. He cited a conversation he had recently had with one of his constituents. The fellows mother was have a balloon agnioplasty at a clinic. She was under general anesthesia, unfortunately she went into cardiac arrest. The fellows question was would he still be allowed to sue if tort reform was included in the bill. The senator, I can not remember his name now, assured the gentleman that he would do everything in his power to stop tort reform. The problem with this scenario is that cardiac arrest is an inherent risk asscociated with general anesthesia. Somebody please give me a valid arguement as to why you should be allowed to sue anyone when the risk has been explained and you have willingly accepted the risk.

glassrinkmaker

Corgi, why is medicare going broke?

RoadkiII

Am I the only person who lives in the Augusta area that knows to leave a little early and route myself around the railroad tracks if I absolutely, positively have to be there on time?

*apologies to FedEx

Maybe the Fort Gordon gate keepers are too busy detaining security threats. I was once detained there for over 2 hours for an expired tag. During that time, I was badgered by multiple MPs and threatened with everything from going to jail to having my children taken away. After laughing at my tears long enough to suit themselves, I then had to appear in federal court for "violation of homeland security". Maybe they could save time and money by taking some of the "rediculous" out of the system. A normal ticket, even a large one, might suffice in some cases. As a civilian who once enjoyed some of the services on base, I have never stepped foot back there since.

MCG and ASU students, Higher education is not an entitlement, it is a priviledge. Quit your whining! Your whining is what is wrong with this country now. These programs were implemented when there wa a surplus. If you haven't heard, the surplus is gone! It's time for your "entitlement" along with many other "entitlements" to be cut or eliminated. Past time for theis country and citizens to get back to PAY AS YOU GO!

glassrinkmaker

Martinez, i am sure you are missed!

Wage control of businesses - I agree not. BUT wage accountability for businesses that have abused bailout funds, bankruptcy laws and every other legal loop available - ABSOLUTELY!!! Why should executives of businesses that federal tax dollars had to save be able to turn around and pay millions in bonuses to those executives that drove the businesses to near failure to begin with? That's not a liberal issue, that's common sense.

willienelson

Greedy docs don't want to work for free. I'm guessing the rest of you would have no problem if your rate of pay dropped from $20 per hour to $5 per hour when you changed the oil for folks on medicaid and they promised you would get that portion of your check in 180 days.

RoadkiII

If I know I will be checked for certain things no matter where I am going, I make sure everything is in order. Makes my life so much easier.

willienelson

Martinez, you still don't get it. Wage control is not the answer. The government has no authority to bail out these companies. As usual, big government is the problem.

willienelson

RK, stop that. Common sense is not allowed here. Do you cry while they check for those things???

to tell the truth1

The last time I checked, you are required to be at an airport hours before your scheduled flight due to changes made after 9/11. Based on that, you were going to miss the flight anyway because you weren't there hours ahead ... Find something legimate to complain about.

RoadkiII

On the big business bailout. No federal funds, see if you can make it by giving back the bonus and taking a pay cut to keep afloat. If not, it was nice doing business with you. I work for a very large, privately owned company. We all (employees AND upper management) have taken pay cuts in the last year. Guess what, the company is still solvent and we still have jobs.

willienelson

Get em, truth boy

Martinez

qlassrinkmaker - I am sure I am missed too - not. Point being, they have paid money to campaign for more civilians to utilize their services. A little friendlier service is all it takes. The same day I was detained, they had a very elderly man there too. He was crying hysterically and they laughed in his face. We sat together in court a month later and he was still shaken by the experience. Don't get the wrong idea here, I was wrong and definitely deserved the fine. I just their approach at the gate was a bit over zealous. If you think traffic is bad right now, you should have seen it that day with two of the booths closed while they searched both of our cars. And when I say search, they read every piece of paper in my laptop bag, looked a pictures I had in my glove box etc. It was a very deliberately slow process.

BeaufordT

They really should put some warning signs up on the entrances to military installations. Ya know, things like "All persons and vehicles are subject to search", or "Use of Deadly Force Authorized" etc.

willienelson

Have you ever been to Westinghouse SRS? Not only do you go thru the thorough search of your auto, depending on where you are going in the facility you are required to attend a class and watch a video. Marty would be crying for days.

glassrinkmaker

I for one am glad the MPs did a thorough search!!

willienelson

I'm beginning to wonder what kind of pic's they found in marty's glove box. They should check her car everywhere she goes with pic's like that.

My wife and I started saving for our childrens education when they were born. We are OK for the first three years and we can swing the fourth if the fine arts program at ASU continues. I am not asking for an entitlement, just keep the tuition at a reasonable rate. What Sonny and company are doing is making it hard for those of us who have worked and saved so that our children can get a good education and become contributors to society hard to do. Cut the damn entitlements for those that can work but choose not to. I am subject to a drug screening at anytime, required by federal law for my job. It is time the proposed legislation for drug screens for the entitlements is passed and enacted. I will bet anyone of you a steak dinner the rolls will drop by at least 35%.

BeaufordT

Martinez, did your husband (as the sponsor) also get into trouble over the unregistered vehicle?

ColdBeerBoiledPeanuts

I hope they used gloves!!!
