According to court records, Brooks and Hatcher were drinking and smoking crack cocaine. When Brooks was sent to buy more crack and did not return, Hatcher found him and hit him in the head with a board.
2 men sentenced for roles in fatal shooting
Two men were sentenced Monday to 22 years in prison for a 2008 Aiken County robbery and shooting death.
Matthew Lamar Jackson, 22, of Springfield, and Tyrone Akeem Gleaton, 19, of Wagener, pleaded guilty in General Sessions Court to armed robbery and voluntary manslaughter, but neither admitted shooting 19-year-old Marquez Tyler.
Tyler's decomposed body was found in a swamp area near Windsor in February 2009, said Assistant Solicitor David Miller. He had been missing since November 2008.
Jackson and Gleaton admitted robbing Tyler and blamed each other for shooting him in the head during the robbery.

William Tripp pleaded guilty Monday in General Sessions Court to criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the second degree, said Assistant Solicitor Brenda Brisbin.
Tripp admitted to having sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl in July and November. The victim's mother asked Judge Cothran to lessen Tripp's sentence because she said her daughter called Tripp several times and was "partly to blame," Brisbin said.
The prosecution asked for 10 years, noting the 20-year age difference between the victim and Tripp.
Teen mom charged with child cruelty
A teenage mother was charged with child cruelty Monday after she took her 3-month-old daughter to the hospital to be treated for burns.
Felicia Crystal Cave, 17, of the 2200 block of Southgate Drive, was charged with first-degree cruelty to children, according to Richmond County jail records.
A sheriff's report says the woman took her baby to Trinity Hospital about 6 p.m. Friday. The baby was transferred to Doctors Hospital, and doctors found burns from her left knee to her buttocks. The mother told doctors the bath water might have been too hot.
Doctors also found old bite marks on the child's fingers, toes and ears and bruises on her hands and feet. An X-ray revealed an old skull fracture, four to six rib fractures and a possible femur fracture. The mother said the bite marks might have come from her 15-month-old son, who shares a room with the baby, the report says.

To all the folks against ANY kind of birth control,,,,Pick up this baby & give it a better home..put your money where your mouth is..
I think we need to be looking for the father of the 15 month old. 15+9=24, 17yrs-24months=15yrs. She was a victim of child molestation at 15, there is a story above about the Aiken man getting 6yrs for sex with a 15yr old. Why is the father, who obviously had sex with a 15yr (or younger) old child. Now if the Mother is having trouble raising these two she has, how will she raise the next one, or more? The "entitlement" money is not enough to support a child. She will wind up renting herself or the children for some crackhead to play with. Why not put some of the males into work camps, and let clean up the streets and park (when children are not around), and get something useful from them. Why should we pay for them to live, when they do not contribute to society? Sterilizing the mother is only solving half the problem. If we could prove that she is directly responsible for the injuries, then CABoatright is correct, skip the sterilization and move to execution.
seenit, I'm not against birth control. I've picked up a baby & given it a better home. I can't go into the history of how it happened, but the situation was tragic, fairly close to what newsreader described. I put my money where my mouth is. How many 50 YO men have a car seat in their truck (I get ragged daily at work about it)? Yes, I'm aware of the ramifications of us raising a child at our age, we have a close knit family, so our grown kids know this child as theirs also. The sperm bank is pregnant again & we're not emotionally, physically or financially able to support that one, too. Can you tell she's not related to us? Any takers?
15 months old, minus a 3 month old + 9 months pregnancy, means she was knocked up again 3 months after giving birth! GOSH! IDIOT!
well i think that no excuses should be made for this girl, just because she gets pregnant at 15, even it was against her will, that is no excuse to abuse your children, you know better than that at 15 so regardless of where the father is and why he isnt taking responsibility or if he was there and just didnt care, like the father just recently denied bond because he killed his 3month old child. the girl is obviously not in a place where she could take care of children and clearly should have given them up for adoption so they could have a better life. i hope the babies get to live a better life, hopefully they will not have to go back to a life of abuse.
Newsreader, no, the GA age of consent is 14. In SC, it's 16. Different states have different laws. You are assuming, falsely, that an older adult is the father of the baby. Please face reality. Lots of teenagers are having sex, and at younger and younger ages. More than likely, the father of the baby isn't any older than she is- so would you also like to charge her with child molestation also?
