Rants and raves

Comments from our readers:

YOU FOLKS IN Augusta need to elect commissioners and hire an administrator that would help your city. This TEE center, parking meters, the Miller Theatre are something just for the wealthy and classy of your city. The lower class pay taxes just like the wealthy. The city should spend these monies on the streets and roadways of Augusta and Richmond County. I am not a citizen of your city, but I travel your streets each and every day. Believe me, if you have nothing wrong with your vehicle, traveling these streets will send you looking for repairs.

HOUSE MAJORITY WHIP Jim Clyburn of South Carolina says he wants a Medicare deal for his state, too. Does Clyburn really think money grows on trees? He says members of Congress taking bribes are "looking out for their own states."

HEADLINE SAYS: "Candidates find loopholes in campaign finance laws." Imagine how all those candidates will break our laws once they're in office.

A RAVE TO Best Buy and Kroger. Best Buy for bucking the politically correct trend of banning the word "Christmas" and boldly wishing us all a Merry Christmas on last Sunday's flier. And Kroger did the same on a commercial. It is nice to see some corporate officials still have a little backbone.

GUN CRIME is up 89 percent in Great Britain. Oh, yeah, the private citizens of Britain can't own handguns.

WHILE THE GRINCHES of the Democratic Party were stealing Christmas from the American people through the guise of health care reform, they were giving $6 million in bonuses to the managers of Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac. Both lending institutions were bailed out with your hard earned tax dollars. Remember this in November.

IT IS A SAD DAY in America, knowing that our representatives were not listening to the voices across this great country on health care reform. In a way, it is the fault of every citizen. Every day, most people would rather stay updated on their favorite reality TV show instead of following what is going on locally, nationally and globally. Do we want our children to have the same type of freedom we had, better hopefully, or do we want them to have limited freedom or none at all?

FRONT-PAGE STORY tells of a felon on work release who failed to follow the rules and didn't report in. He got caught with his wife, and naturally he's claiming the cops hurt him. If he resisted, he asked for it. Also, the story says nothing about his wife being charged with aiding and abetting this felon. Why is she not under arrest?

ATTORNEYS GENERAL of seven states say they will probe the "Nebraska compromise." Funny that the Georgia attorney general is not with this group.

Senators and Congressmen get

Senators and Congressmen get arrested for paying for votes during an election. They should get arrested for paying for votes on bills with pork as well as accepting them like a bribe.

The only way the lower class

The only way the lower class may be contributing to the tax base is that their land lord is using part of their rent money to pay the property tax on the house they are renting and if they play the lottery. The lottery is a "tax on stupid people".

Let's face it. Your elected reps. are crooks to start with. Once elected, they forget you and it is all me, me, me. They twist words and con the public. Does anyone know of any other way to run this country?

"The lower class pay taxes

"The lower class pay taxes just like the wealthy." You mistake having taxes withheld with paying taxes. Thanks to EIC and other credits, if you get a refund equal to or a "refund" greater than the amount you paid in, you ARE NOT a taxpayer.

Georgia's Attorney General is

Georgia's Attorney General is a democrat and an Obama supporter, that is why he is not investigating any of the crooked deals made to get the Health Care bill passed.

News flash...Every bill that

News flash...Every bill that has ever been passed by ANY congress had deals made to get it passed. It's called Pork Barrel Spending. This practice was certainly not started with the current administration. It happens because your congress men and women and your senators, NO MATTER IF THEY ARE DEMS OR GOP OR INDEP, ARE AFRAID THEY WON'T GET RE-ELECTED by YOU if they do not give you and your state fringe benefits. That's the reality of it. We need to take a look at the whole process!

Pork and ear marks should not

Pork and ear marks should not be allowed on other bills. If someone presents a bill, then that should be the bill and it should be by itself and not attached to someone elses. Each one should be discussed by congress and voted on accordingly. That would help eliminate all they bills that congressmen are trying to sneak in for their states only. They need to work everyday like everyone else and handle the bills individually. They vote on one bill so they can attach theirs for votes in their next election. America is mad as heck at what is going on behind our backs for which we have no say.

Boston, the current House just approved a bill containing over 5000 earmarks which cost us almost $4 billion. Think Obama will sign it or will this just be another lie??

A free country can only

A free country can only survive if led by Christian leaders who cannot be bought. We need men who answer to God and worship Him and not themselves.

Just heard on CNN: Obama says

Just heard on CNN: Obama says " he is able to make tough unpopular decisions. If they are unpopular doesn't that mean that the "American people" are going to be unhappy about it? What are we a bunch of children who need our president (who incidentally must be smarter that everyone else in the country) to make all our decisions for us? I have been trying to contact them all day, so I can ask what I should cook for supper tonight. We might starve if Obama doesn't let me know.

Government by representation

Government by representation is almost passe in this age of communications connectivity. It made sense for an agrarian nation as large as Colonial America. But now any bill can be delivered to the voters instantaneously. A voter has to demonstrate a sufficient grasp of the bill prior to being able to vote on it (this protects the voter from shooting themselves in the foot), and then the vote is executed. Get rid of all the riff-raff and special interests between me an the bill.

Every debate that has obama

Every debate that has obama and his crew in the background can be defined in Two Words, "Organized Crime". It is the worst crime scene that is ever happened to America. This crime is honored by many posters on here. Where are their minds or is it just their life style? The weapon known as TAX has now replaced the gun, killing this great nation without firing a shot.

Thank you for adding so much

Thank you for adding so much to the discussion as always, Holly. Now that you have received a few posts (all negative) in reply, it's time to go play Farmsville or something more your speed. Or maybe you can invite friends and family that couldn't make it over yesterday to enjoy the leftovers from the wonderful Christmas meal you lovingly prepared.
