Rants and Raves

Comments from our readers:

GEORGIA STATE GOVERNMENT is saying that there is a "huge gap in the state's budget left by sagging tax collections" and that gap is getting filled up by federal "stimulus" money. Well, what's one more lie from government? If there's a "gap" in the state's budget, it's caused by state politicians not cutting spending when they know there is no money to spend. Among other buzzwords, always watch out for "community development." It sounds so darned wonderful, when all it is is a hot air way for politicians to help their buddies who get overpriced government contracts to repave streets that don't need repaving.

RANT: I GUESS ONLY select people can rant. I sent one in last night and it is nowhere to be found. Maybe I should subscribe to a different paper.

WITH SO MANY LIES being thrown around all over the place, how does one know whom to trust? A good rule of thumb is to be leery of anybody named Dot Gov.

I HAVE JUST BEEN informed that my appointment for a regular flu shot has been cancelled due to a lack of vaccine. Also, the government promised that we would have plenty of vaccine available by mid-October for swine flu and that has turned into a disaster. It should be noted that this is a sign of things to come if the government runs our health care system.

THE AUGUSTA-RICHMOND County $8.6 million deficit would be quickly reduced if traffic cameras were installed to catch the enormous number of people who run red lights. The Walton Way, Wheeler Road and Augusta Exchange areas are particularly bad. Are these people too important to follow traffic laws?

A RAVE FOR Eagle Paint & Body in Grovetown. Fast and professional service and friendly employees.

IT'S GREAT THAT so much has been done to improve awareness and treatment of breast cancer. Now it's time to give as much of the same intensity to other cancers and health conditions so that we all can be well.

I SAY IF Teresa Smith wants her job back, let her have it so she can finish the jobs she screwed up so badly, like the 400 block of Warren Road. We were promised by our commissioner and head of engineering that it would be included in 2010 SPLOST.

RAVES TO THE PAPER re: the "global warming science" is "unsettled." Actually, it is settled, of course since Americans know when they need to wear an extra sweater or to leave off the sweater. Nowadays, we're wearing the extra sweater, thus "global warming" is clearly a lie.

The ranter is right, the

The ranter is right, the government promising flu vaccine and not delivering is a good indicator of how government run healthcare will affect millions of Americans. With the government running it (public option) there will be no effective healthcare for anyone who can't afford to buy their own healthcare without insurance.

Climate change is real.

Climate change is real. Spend some time reading the reports by USGS, NOAA, and other respected scientific communities. Put your politics aside, get your head out of the sand, and start working on solutions. For your children and grandchildren.

GEORGIA STATE GOVERNMENT is saying that there is a "huge gap in the state's budget left by sagging tax collections" and that gap is getting filled up by federal "stimulus" money...........Whats going to happen when the "Stimulus" is gone? There is no job growth and businesses have cut back, for supply to equal demand. If the stimulus gamble does not work. We are going to see a double dip recession.

The USA Today ran excellent

The USA Today ran excellent article last week on the govt failure to provide flu vaccine. And this with a great deal of time to prepare. Wonder how Obama's administration would handle a real emergency with no warning? Especially, with his, hmm, quick decision making skills!

We had a prayer request at church last night for a lady who was pregnant and the baby died two days after she received the swine flu shot. She had normal pregnancies before this one. No conclusion implied just given for information.

Well once upon a time my 2nd

Well once upon a time my 2nd assistant step-neighbor told me that his cousin knew somebody that fell down and landed on a discarded roofing nail which perforated his sternum and his heart immediately stopped. Fortunately, there was a plumber driving down the street at the same time and he had a NAET gizmo in the back and they fixed him even better than a roto-rooter. He is living a normal life now!

Before you fall completely

Before you fall completely for the global warming kick you might want to check out where the weather stations are that are used in these statistics. In the US there are a lot all over the country that are set up at universities. Some of those universities have their weather stations on top of black tar roofs, close to HVAC units, or adjacent or right on blacktop. All of which generate more heat and would show a higher temperature. Maybe the solution is simple, go back to dirt roads that don't reflect the heat as bad as blacktop. That ought to bring it down a couple of degrees if done world-wide.

GLOBAL WARMING IS A LIE:

GLOBAL WARMING IS A LIE: Dear Ranter its obvious you're an ideologue and driven by your beliefs and figments of your
imagination rather than by any reputable science. Computers are cranking out frightening scenarios. A 4 degree C
temperature rise on earth would cause a severe change in weather patterns and put millions of people on the move. Rice
crops in China and Asia decreasing by 30 % and wheat yields in America decreasing by 40 %. Arctic snows and glaciers melting, sea levels rising. And all of this is not in the by and by either. It's a forecast for the year 2030. UN climate talks began in Copenhagen shortly and environmentalist are warning that rich nations must cut their greenhouse gas emissions by at least 40 % by 2020.

So are global warming and

So are global warming and cooling cycles. For further explanations on solar cycles see "Mars polar caps" and "Ice Age". Anyone who thinks that a unilateral effort by the USA to reduce emissions will have one iota of an impact on what the planet and solar system has in mind is a drooling moron in my opinion. Are we clear?

The EPA mandates that all

The EPA mandates that all American factories cut pollution or face severe penalties. So, to avoid expensive modifications to meet EPA standards, companies move operations (and jobs) to countries that have little or no environmental regulations. Now that other countries/governments have the factories that should be in the US of A do you really think they will make it cost prohibitive for them to remain there. The conferance in Copenhage will be a joke.
