Rants and raves

THE BONUS THAT Dr. Bedden is getting -- why does he not put the money back into the system where it came from instead of giving it to another organization?

OH MY WALLET! Is it 2012, yet?

I HOPE COLUMBIA COUNTY gets our tax dollars back for the lousy roadwork at Washington and Halali Farm roads!

A RAVE FOR THE young military lad working part-time at the new Grovetown Wal-Mart. As a retiree, myself, he made me very, very proud. As a taxpayer, it made me sad that he's having to work a second job to make ends meet, as he's having to compensate for the loss of his combat pay.

RICHMOND COUNTY VOTERS did not vote to spend $20 million dollars in 2005 for a TEE Center. The commission voted that resolution. What Richmond County really needs is a new, bigger jail to keep all of these criminals off of the street !

HAPPY 40TH birthday to the Internet. Thanks to Al Gore for inventing it when he was only 21!

OBAMA RAN ON the war in Afghanistan as the good war. He needs to give them the troops the commander on the ground says he needs or get out. Overwhelming force is the only way to enter a war.

I AM A FORMER Augusta area resident, now living in the Greenville area. I often read The Augusta Chronicle online for news from home. I want to rave about the new look for your online newspaper! It's clean and formatted in a way that makes navigating easy, smooth and fast.

I HAVE SENT YOU some very good Rants & Raves and you never print even one of them. I don't know who chooses what is printed in the column. I can only conclude they are not too smart.

RANT TO THE churchgoers who find it necessary to smoke in the church parking lot and at church functions where children are present. Is this your testimony?

WHY DO SENSIBLE political leaders keep insisting on a TEE center run by government, when everywhere we turn we see government-run things running off the tracks? If something like a TEE center will work in Augusta, private enterprise will see the profit in it and do it with private money and expertise. Then, it'll either work, or it won't. But taxpayers won't be FORCED to be the gamblers footing the bill.
