Rants and raves

Comments from our readers:

A HUGE RANT to these impatient, selfish people that expect the office of the president to cure all their woes in four months. Get a life and try to help yourself. We live in a democracy. Taxes make the country run. I don't see anyone demonstrating about starving people or fifth-graders that can't read or do math because of lazy parents.

RANT TO Commissioner Betty Beard, who represents the Harrisburg area. Look at the work you did on Laney-Walker. Why can't you invest in the Harrisburg section? Street lights on Crawford Avenue and Eve Street (like the ones that line Laney-Walker) would help this neighborhood greatly. These two streets go from Walton Way down to Broad Street, where the Kroc Center is to be built, and the lights would make a big statement.

OUR PRESIDENT goes before Europeans and now Latin Americans and blames the U.S. for most of the ills of the world and then promises "new growth funds" (with U.S. tax dollars). His new friends Castro, Chavez and Ortega are long-time socialists and can teach him much -- he did say, "I have a lot to learn."

THIS IS A HUGE rave to the nice ladies who work at the Motor Vehicle Department down on Laney-Walker Boulevard. I had to go down there to get plates for my car, and they were wonderful. They were very pleasant and took care of me in a very timely manner. Keep up the good work.

TO UNEDUCATED PEOPLE trying to jump on Obama for paying respects to leaders of other countries: Study cultures and psychology. The latter will show you that Obama is not kowtowing to anyone, but merely paying respect and showing proper diplomacy and courtesy to leaders of other countries. There is nothing wrong with that.

ELECTED REPUBLICANS and young Republicans are still tongue-tied over the immensity of what transpired in the November election.

I WOULD LIKE to give a big rave to the Georgia State Patrol for helping out with The Best Dam bicycle ride on Sunday. They were there watching the motorists while over 300 bicyclists rode 60 to 100 miles around Clarks Hill. And I might add they stopped several motorists who did not yield to the bicyclists.

DEKE, YOU'RE jeopardizing this city's financial future for a minor league team that already has a perfectly good stadium. Is Cal Ripken threatening to move the team if he doesn't get a new stadium? Ask the taxpayers, Deke. They're the ones that put you in office. The way you are taking the choice away from us is wrong.

A RAVE TO Matthew (our newspaper carrier) for the note he left in our paper regarding our Sunday delivery. Thanks for showing that you cared!

Lippy- G'mornin! Hey, milton

Lippy- G'mornin! Hey, milton - I once asked RCR why he always answered any question with a question about something Bush had done. His response was "What's wrong with that?" Get the idea? It's virtually impossible for an intelligent person to defend the actions and polices of PresBo. The typical mentally-challenged supporter has no chance at all.

Tech - Tomorrow! Think of the

Tech - Tomorrow! Think of the unfunded stimulus bill and the omnibus spending bill that removed all possible funding for the budget, then look for the majic words "debt held by the public". That article was written by a prominent economic professor at Stanford University. It is not exactly a hot bed of right-winger talk show hosts. Don't ask the question if you can't accept or comprehend the answer. You are just embarassing yourself.

After reading 3headed beasts

After reading 3headed beasts comments I can only assume he/she is a product of government schooling. If he /she graduated it must have been through the social promotion program. Obviously though. This person is a left wing kool aid drinker who doesn't even have the first clue what he/she is talking about. An obvious product of the welfare state. Everything has an equal and opposite effect. You can't spend money today that you don't have (that's called credit 3hb){more educated call it deficit spending} without paying it back in the future unless you are willing to have your purchase repossessed. (a concept I figure you are familiar with) . So get your head out of your dark crevice and into the sunshine. If you like President Howdy Doody fine. Just don't blindly follow without some thought as to the final outcome of these programs. Open your eyes , ears, and mind and use some of that education.....by the way are you using your childs state funded computer to post with ?

By the same guy who fudged

By the same guy who fudged inflation numbers under Bush so Social Security recipients and the military would get less of a raise. Please look up the Hoover Institution at Stanford, of which Boskin is a Senior Fellow. It seems Stanford is a hotbed of right wingers. Still waiting on the numbers. If you ever answered the question, maybe there would be something to accept or comprehend.

"tongue-tied over the

"tongue-tied over the immensity of what transpired in the November election" Ah...no. We are horrified at the tragedy that has occurred from mid-January to date. We are horrified to see this regime turn a capitalist republic into an oppressive socialist society in 90 days. We have a legitimate concern that the Democrats are going WAY too far over the line with taxes and spending. Our concerns are just as legitimate as your concerns were with most of the Bush administration policies and we intend to continue to voice our concerns just a loudly and obnoxiously as you did for the past eight years and we intend to vote against these policies in the next few elections. It worked for you and hopefully it will work for us. If we can generate enough fear and hate we may win the next election. We learned these tactics from you and ACORN. They are crude, but apparently effective. Hope you don't mind if we borrow them.

Obobblehead is proving to be

Obobblehead is proving to be a skillful campaigner. He's already begun his re-election effort with the release of the torture information. By keeping his sheeple outraged about these other issues, he distracts them from what he claimed was our most pressing "crisis", the economy, and the FACT his efforts so far have had no positive effect on same. Source material is available to support any positions/numbers you want. The key is finding source material supporting your position that is from the "other side".

Violence in Iraq is

Violence in Iraq is increasing again. Will this be blamed on Bush? Taliban is expanding in Afghanistan, is this Obowelmovement's war? Unemployment, credit card debt, home purchasing all still on downward trend. What happened to the "imminent collapse" avoided by passing a stimulus bill that was never read? It is not tenable to demand "give him a chance" and also to demand "these bills need passed now".

Discontent is on the rise.

Discontent is on the rise. Where's the unifying president we were promised? Important members of government agencies are still unfilled. Where's the attention to detail? Put aside your bias' and look at the job being done or not done. Oscatterbrain is overwhelmed and underqualified. Congress is ignoring the will of their constituents. Change is only what you get back from a dollar until our system has failed.

Dear TL, as the grandchild of

Dear TL, as the grandchild of Irish Immirants (legal even took the naturalization courses for years to become citizens and were darn proud of it !!!!) I am very proud of the fact they nor any other member of my family ever recieved one dime of govt. money. Never drew unemployment and even when my father died my mother(5 children) went to work rather than sit around the house and draw welfare checks. It's really hard for me to understand how someone could expect something for nothing. It's even harder for me to understand how someone would be willing to take from me and give to someone who is non productive. I believe in charity but I should decide who deserves my gifts not the govt. I also get a kick out of the fact that as a viet nam veteran, who is Irish Catholic, pro life , pro marriage, and proficient in the use of the weapons I own to protect my family ...I am now more of a terrorist than Osama Bin Laden...Where on earth is the left taking this country......God Save us all....that will probably get me put on a watch list.....OMG

The libs will continue to

The libs will continue to whine about any comments the conservatives have to say about their 'annointed one'. He could be caught with a dead woman or a live boy and they would continue to excuse and defend their incompetent leader. He was said to be good at campaigning and that's ALL he continues to do. He makes promises, blames others and continues to put others down while getting a pass on his destructive actions. He continues to be a bad representative for the people that so vigorously defend him.

Irish: You are not a

Irish: You are not a terrorist unless you plan or commit terrorist acts. don't forget McVeigh. milton: I agree that Obama's deficits will be higher by the time he is out of office. What so many of the posters have said is that he has spent more than all Presidents combined or he has doubled the debt that Bush left since inauguration. You can look at the past numbers and see that it is bull. As far as down the road they can conjecture, but what they claim as facts are none of the sort. PT even said Bush left a $1.3 trillion dollar deficit. It's either total ignorance or lying.

For those who would like to

For those who would like to truly track the promises and costs of those promises , here's the link: http://money.cnn.com/news/storysupplement/economy/bailouttracker/index.html That's right, CNN that ultra-conservative, McCain supporting, right wing extremist website. Now argue with those numbers.

I find it revealing also that

I find it revealing also that this "President" promised such transparency in the disbursement of his "stimulus plan" yet the above site shows "n/a" (not available) for ANY of the money spent. Not one dollar. Zilch. Zero. Nada. I don't expect any of the sheeple posting here to acknowledge or admit error, but it'd be nice if they'd at least look.

Oblameless said his budget

Oblameless said his budget reflects the "true costs of the wars" and tried to justify his deficit in that manner. Then why did he request $83BILLION recently to fund them that is nowhere in his budget? Owaffler has a track record of avoiding decisions. Obumbler has a track record of having no spine. But boy can he speak on TV, let's elect him!
