Rants and raves

Comments from our readers:

A RANT FOR your online posters in the Rants and Raves section. Instead of being cognizant human beings, you resort to name calling and hurtful tactics to try to prove you're smart and/or right. You squander your constitutional right by calling people fat, tramps, rapists, cheerleaders, tail tuckers, etc., instead of actually trying to debate the issues. It's your right to do so, but it is just sad to see freedom of speech wasted.

HOMELAND SECURITY Secretary Janet Napolitano backed a report defining "right-wing extremism" as "hate-motivated groups and movements, such as hatred of certain religions, racial or ethnic groups." It goes on to include people "dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration." An antiabortion person won't have to actually "hate" anybody, nor will that person have to be in any way "extreme." But Napolitano seems to be enthusiastic to help Obama get into a position to arrest anybody he wants to.

OUR TEACHERS are working during Christmas and summer breaks to supplement their income; police officers are working "specials" after being on duty all day or night to make ends meet; some children in the CSRA are going to bed hungry. Let's build a new baseball stadium! What does that say about society?

STOP THE STADIUM; repair the roads!

GAS HAS GONE UP 45 cents a gallon since Thanksgiving. Where are the protests? Where are the investigative reports? Where are the headlines? We are all a bunch of lemmings.

A RANT TO THOSE that continue to compare President Bush's spending with President Obama's. It was bad enough, but keep one thing in mind: It took President Bush eight years to spend all that money, yet President Obama tripled President Bush's spending in eight weeks.

FOR THE RANTER who declares President Obama didn't do anything and that Bush stood up for the people. Apparently, he/she has forgotten how the Bush Administration concealed the fact that we've been in a recession since 2007, invaded a sovereign country, starting a war of choice, and failed in his declaration to capture Osama Bin Laden. A convenient memory lapse?

TO THE PEOPLE bashing any attempts at communication with Cuba and other countries previously classified as "undesirable" in one way or another: A lot of former war enemies have proven that time and other experiences change people. Remember Japan from WWII? How about Russia? Now they are key allies in different worldwide negotiations.

I'M JUST CALLING to suggest that you put some intelligent rants in the paper.

A rather "interesting"

A rather "interesting" collection of R&R's today. How does exercising one's 1st Ammendment right squander that right? I'll have to get more coffee to get my noggin wrapped around that one. The "war of choice" was started when Saddam Hussain chose to invade the soverign nation of Kuwait in 1990. We were in a cease-fire status (but still in a state of war) since that time. Saddam did not comply with the terms of the cease-fire that he had agreed to - pretty simple really. Yup on the last one, somebody just "doing their part". LOL G'mornin, Nammy, RocknRollin and all y'all!

How Quick We Forget about the

How Quick We Forget about the Worst President (Or so we thought) Does anybody out there have any memory of the reason given for the establishment of the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY ..... during the Carter Administration? Anybody? Anything? No? Didn't think so ! Bottom line .. we've spent several hundred billion dollars in support of an agency ... the reason for which not one person who reads this can remember. Ready? It was very simple.... and at the time everybody thought it very appropriate... The 'Department of Energy' was instituted on 8-04-1977 TO ...... LESSEN OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL. Hey, pretty efficient, huh? AND NOW IT'S 2009, 32 YEARS LATER ... AND THE BUDGET FOR THIS NECESSARY DEPARTMENT IS AT $24.2 BILLION A YEAR, IT HAS 16,000 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES AND APPROXIMATELY 100,000 CONTRACT EMPLOYEES AND LOOK AT THE JOB IT HAS DONE! THIS IS WHERE YOU SLAP YOUR FOREHEAD AND SAY 'WHAT WAS I THINKING?' Ah, yes, good ole bureaucracy.. And NOW we are going to turn the Banking System, health care & the Auto Industry over to them? God Help Us!

The first rant, hmmmm smells

The first rant, hmmmm smells of, well I won't say because last time I named names they (you know who they are A&R) had me "violating tems of service". RockNRoll, you know who it was, she comes on here insults everyone else, says they have nothing better to do with their time but endlessly post to this board and then posts 5 times as many as the rest of us combind. Then she goes on and changes her name and insists on using the same abuse of the English language, petty name calling and poor spelling and thinks the rest of us are dumber than dirt and we won't recognize who she really is. Then when you call her on it she resorts to idiotic banter that makes cingle celled organisms look like Einstein........ How did I do, did I sum her up appropriately? Constructive critism welcomed and appreciated. Mornin' PTHS and CBBP and the rest of the gang....

"It took President Bush eight

"It took President Bush eight years to spend all that money, yet President Obama tripled President Bush's spending in eight weeks." If someone on right wing radio says it, it must be true. Several yahoo's keep repeating this non fact. The total budgets for Bush's 8 years were $20.37 trillion dollars. The 2010 budget is $3.6 trillion.

i'm mirroring the current

i'm mirroring the current administration's actions and cutting 3 dollars from my annual budget! Perhaps that was their response to the tea parties. Hey, look, we can be fiscally responsible too! Anyone else sick of the government deciding where your hard earned dollars should go? Anyone else sick of empty words and broken promises from members of both parties? Vote with your heart and not along party lines. Consider 3rd parties. Or get more of the same in 2012.

Obam's projected deficit is a

Obam's projected deficit is a liitle over 8 trillion by 2016, Bush increased the deficit almost 5 trillion in his 8 years. If you want to say Obama will increase the deficit a little over 3 trillion more than Bush did, you'd be accurate.

Good morning all...:-) Ya'll

Good morning all...:-) Ya'll have a safe day... By the way this administration has paved the road for an organization to be granted a Federal Hearing in order to present a petition, Number 2493, the removal of Pastors from the Airwaves...Pastors to include Joel Osteen, Charles Stanley, Joyce Meyers and others...This same group is also petitioning the removal of all Christmas programs from our schools...Their petition is picking up speed since the removal of God has become politically correct...Christians need to pray and unite...God cannot be removed but He can leave us alone to stew in our on sludge for awhile...

federal income taxes didn't

federal income taxes didn't exist for roughly half of our nation's history. anyway, I guess I misspoke. How about "anyone else sick of the government wasting your hard earned dollars?" "auto bailouts" "bank stabilization" bridges to nowhere, corporate tax shelters, gas phone property sales excise interest taxes taxes taxes. I'm sick of it. I'm sick of working 50+ hours a week while others sit and do nothing. I'm sick of paying my mortgage payment on my modest on time while others who bought more than they could afford get federal subidies. i'm sick of druggie broodmares moving into my neighborhood junking up the place leaving shopping carts in the middle of the street. i'm sick of hearing about career politicians on both sides of the aisle funneling money into corporations or interests they own. i'm sick of being PENALIZED FOR SAVING MONEY BY HAVING IT DEVALUED BY OUR OWN GOVERNMENT, i'm sick of an imperialist america expanding influence through force (wars) or tribute (foreign "aid").

You all seem to forget that

You all seem to forget that it takes money to make money. Sure there may be a 33% increase in the deficit but maybe all you Einstein have a more profitable suggestion on how to bail out the economy and give our financial system a kick in the butt.
