Rants and raves

WHY IS THE Augusta Half Marathon constantly referred to as the "INAUGURAL" half marathon? The first Augusta Half Marathon was held Dec. 6, 1981. Check the archives. It was also sponsored by The Augusta Chronicle.

RICHMOND COUNTY OFFICIALS need to get tough with fines and community service for the trashy people who litter. Bring back the chain gang.

DID ANYONE NOTICE how biased The Chronicle was in the Oct. 23 edition? Underneath each of the polling results for the battleground states, there was a negative comment about Obama, but not one about McCain. Republicans are desperate people right now.

RAVES TO Commissioner Dr. Gena Evans, Board Chair Bill Kuhlke and the rest of the GDOT for their impressive expansion work on Augusta's Interstate highways.

A HUGE RAVE FOR the Women's Medical Center at University Hospital and the nurses on the Labor and Delivery Floor.

I WAS AT SALVATION ARMY when a woman went ballistic. Her complaint? She read the sign that said she had to produce ID to get her freebies. She first let everyone in hearing know that she hadn't had to do that in all the years she'd been coming there. Also, she named two other charities she knew for a fact didn't ask for ID. She then stormed out, saying she would never be back, accusing the workers of stealing presents from her kids. Unbelievable.

CAN SOMEBODY TELL US which presidential candidate God prefers, and why?

PEOPLE ARE SO CAUGHT UP in the economy that they are forgetting about the youth of this country serving in Iraq. Most joined the military with the best intentions, but they are being destroyed, not only physically, but mentally.

ABOUT THE CURRENT economic crisis brought on by the Fed lowering interest rates that created the giant and artificial real estate bubble: "I made a mistake," admits Greenspan, who should be forced to pay back every dollar that's been lost.

AS USUAL, OUR federal government blows money like it was air. Defense Secretary Gates says they spend $900 million "for work to end domestic violence...." in the military. Certainly, everybody is against domestic violence; but spending $900 million can pay for personal body guards for EVERY single person in the U.S. military. So, who's pocketing all this money?

Yes, I can tell you which

Yes, I can tell you which presidential candidate God prefers, but I can't tell you which one He will allow to be elected. He prefers the candidate that does not advocate abortion, same sex marriage, and many of the other liberal agendas. However, He may allow the candidate that does advocate those things, to be elected because our country has become so wicked that it needs to be punished. Just look at the Old testament (2nd Kings & 2 Chronicles, the last chapters of each) and see how He allowed the northern kingdom of Israel and the southern kingdom of Judah to be defeated and carried into captivity because of their wickedness. There were some righteous people living in those kingdoms at that time, but the majority had turned against God and were breaking His laws and statutes, so the righteous people had to suffer along with the unrighteous.

For the second time in a

For the second time in a week, a prominent Democrat has downgraded Barack Obama's definition of the middle class -- leading Republicans to question whether he'll stick to his promise not to raise taxes on anyone making under $250,000.
The latest hiccup in the campaign message came Friday morning on KOA-AM, when New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson pegged the middle class as those making $120,000 and under.
"What Obama wants to do is he is basically looking at $120,000 and under among those that are in the middle class, and there is a tax cut for those," Richardson said in the interview

Barry's trying to buy the election but I'm not conceding yet. It will take 12 years to undo what he screws up. Of course now his people are putting it out that he may not be able to accomplish everything he promised!

rbk - I don't think a good

rbk - I don't think a good answer is to interject who God allows. God allows anyone the people vote for. He gave us free will and therefore it is who the people allow. Sometimes I wish he would intervene when we make lousy choices, like maybe voting in Obama, but the choice is ours and one we will have to live or die with.

The Republican National

The Republican National Committee quickly blasted out an e-mail saying, "At this rate, it won't take long until Obama is again raising taxes on Americans making as little as $42,000 a year." "If Barack Obama comes to your door next Halloween, there will be no treats -- just taxes," the e-mail said. Joe Biden caused headaches for the campaign Monday when he told a Scranton, Pa., TV station that Obama's tax break "should go to middle class people -- people making under $150,000 a year."

Barack Obama's aunt, a Kenyan

Barack Obama's aunt, a Kenyan woman who has been quietly living in public housing in Boston, is in the United States illegally after an immigration judge rejected her request for asylum four years ago, The Associated Press has learned. Zeituni Onyango, 56, referred to as "Aunti Zeituni" in Obama's memoir, was instructed to leave the United States by a U.S. immigration judge who denied her asylum request, a person familiar with the matter told the AP late Friday.

A California school system

A California school system refuses to say what action, if any, it will take after it received complaints about a kindergarten teacher who encouraged her students to sign "pledge cards" in support of gays. During a celebration of National Ally Week, Tara Miller, a teacher at the Faith Ringgold School of Arts and Science in Hayward, Calif., passed out cards produced by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network to her class of kindergartners. The cards asked signers to be "an ally" and to pledge to "not use anti-LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) language or slurs; intervene, when I feel I can, in situations where others are using anti-LGBT language or harassing other students and actively support safer schools efforts."

They were not biased there

They were not biased there were just truthful. When you have nothing to be negative about. Stop being a damn idiot open your eyes to the lowlife crap ways Obama acts, lies and does and get over it. As a cartoon I read out of a New York paper last week a little girl asked what if more dumb people vote than smart people. Mom told here that well honey the Democrats win. If Obama is your man how does it feel to be in that first category?

The wacky woman at the

The wacky woman at the Salvation Army is a product of the "free ride" effect. The social programs, whether public or private, are enabling excuses to many people. No accountability, no apparent qualifications and no responsibilities attached to the "gifts" of the programs lead these people to feel they have a right to the "free stuff". Human nature. The compassionate concept of making aid available to people in need is important. Making the aid available to those just in want is enabling. The simple ID system at the Salvation Army is a tiny step in the right direction to correcting this situation.

The current credit crisis

The current credit crisis wasn't brought on by low interest rates. They were an aid to the bubble though. The credit crisis was brought on by sub-prime loans. (a government program to "level the playing field" for the unqualified) The packaging and reselling of the loans as viable collateral was brought on by the guaranteeing of the bad loans by Freddie and Fannie.(backed by taxpayer money) The collapse of the credit market was precipitated by borrowers defaulting on loans they were unqualified to receive. Thank you for the social engineering programs, lefties. They worked as good this time as they have every other time. Let's put Obama in office and get a lot more of these programs.
