Rants and raves

THE U.S. ARMY has an 18-member cast of their "show" that travels, apparently, for seven months? Is that what we pay soldiers to do -- sing and dance?

SOME POOR SLUG OF a ranter said that trying to stop teens from getting pregnant is "very thoughtless and plain old-fashioned." That poor ranter is lost. Then she exposed herself; her kid is an education major. That means, the poor kid can at least pass the absurd courses in what today are called departments of education. How very sad all this is.

RE: YOUR ARTICLE about businesses "going green." Most of it was laughable, e.g., "green-certified products." Know that many of us who grew up before 1950 have always been conservationists, but not used that for political purposes, as is the aim of everybody who calls himself an environmentalist. Even the suckers who don't realize it, but fall for the "greener" line, are still doing politics -- NOT conservation.

A RANT TO THE MAN that said nurses only help if you're insured. I know for a fact that the medical angels known as nurses would do everything in their power to put your mind at ease and make you as comfortable as possible regardless of insurance. I know you'd be singing a different tune if something ever happened to you and the good men/women in nursing cared for you.

WELL, WELL, Mr. Padgett is called 'old fashion' and a 'Neanderthal' in the Rants & Raves for saying the pregnant teens were throwing away their futures. Whether you agree with him or not, it is hardly a thoughtless comment. I think that a survey of women who did and did not have children during their teens would reveal some interesting results. Hope the son at Georgia Southern is wiser than his mother.

RANT to all the Christians who complain everyone else isn't "Christian" enough. Look in a mirror.

The armed forces have always had certain groups to boost troop morale. I think it's a great idea. These men and women deserve some entertainment and I'm sure the service members that are providing the entertainment feel satisfaction in making their brothers and sisters smile for a little while.

No we pay the military to protect us and allow you the freedom to rant about Soldier's entertaining their fellow brothers and sisters. I can sure tell when someone has never spent a day in the military, because they cannot understand that we take care of our own.

The first thing we need to do

The first thing we need to do to get health care costs under conntrol is tort reform. Doctors ans nurses have to pay an unreasonable amount for malpractice insurance. First let me make it clear that I am not saying a doctor should not be made to pay if they harm someone, they should. But someone justify a 20 million lawsuit for death. In my case, I stand to make aproximately 1 million dollars before I retire. So apparently I am worth more dead than alive. We always hear "its the principle, not the money". If it is the principle, why not sue to have their license revoked? I think I can answer that....no money involved. If a doctor causes a death, he should be sued for that individuals earning capacity. Then have his license revoked. No amount of money will brig back a loved one. Just something for you to think about. Just my opinion.

Maybe the person ranting

Maybe the person ranting about paying 18 soldiers to "sing and dance" is just upset because they have a singing or dancing talent that they would like to perform seven months out of the year while traveling in Iraq and Afghanistan, just to name a few locales, while away from their family. If so, see a recruiter!

I just have to add in a

I just have to add in a comment on the issue that someone took up with the US Army Soldier Show. Yes there are Soldiers who travel, sing, perform, and raise the morale of fellow Soldiers around the world. They have one of the worst schedules known to man. They travel to every single Major Military Base around the world within those 7 months. They are also the ones who set up, tear down, move their own equipment from town to town and country to country. While some would say they are an entertainment based entity, they are also a major source of recruitment. Civillians also frequent the shows and luckily are so awe struck and inspired by the performances of these Soldiers that they then decide to enlist in the Army. So not only does this show bring morale boosting entertainment to fellow Soldiers, it generates new Soldiers... Something that we need right now. People to join the 1% of the entire us population who voluntarily lay our lives on the line so people like you can judge us and belittle the hardwork we accomplish. Next time you should just thank the Soldiers who have put on the Show!

All branches of the military

All branches of the military have morale boosting ventures such as the Soldier's show. There are also teams such as the All Army basketball team that plays host countries National/Olympic teams. These all help to boost morale and are open to everyone in that branch of service.
It also gives the uninformed a better understanding of the great gifts these young men and women have, but still decide to VOLUNTEER to serve.

To the person wondering if we

To the person wondering if we pay soldiers to sing and dance...
Soldier entertainment by soldiers has been going on since the Americenan Revolution and the Civil War. Originally, Army shows were put on by volunteer soldiers. By 1942, Special Services companies of soldiers were formed. Today the Army Entertainment Division, which is part of Special Services, is the largest producer of entertainment in the world. This has been going on for over 230 years as part of the Army’s Morale, Welfare, and Recreation program.

That story about the shooting

That story about the shooting was funny. Have you ever wondered why people don't show emotion after something like that? This guys GF was shot, his sister probably never going to be free again, yet when interviewed he's on his cell phone, checking texts, and just calm as can be.
