Rants and raves

I USED TO ENJOY watching the Channel 12 WRDW news in the morning, but it seems to be getting sillier.

HEADLINE: "Sex is down among teens." Who actually knows such stuff?

A RANT FOR The Chronicle. I see that your editorials have flip-flopped and joined the curtain rod liberal Democrats and also bashing President Bush. What a shame.

A HUGE RANT FOR TV station 6, who for several years has been trying to make people think that they are Channel 6. They are not Channel 6 in Augusta and they are not Channel 6 in Aiken. WRDW TV 12 is not channel 12. And WAGT 26 is not channel 26. So, therefore, we can't believe that News Channel 6 is Channel 6. It's 2 in most places and 8 in Aiken.

I THINK THEY should honor our late congressional representative, Charlie Norwood, by naming the Augusta VA Hospital the Charles Norwood VA Hospital.

A SUPER RANT to the jerks who put their family pets out on the roadside rather than using an animal rescue organization or shelter. You are heartless.

MY COMPLIMENTS to Sylvia Cooper's great City Ink column. Ms. Cooper, please now investigate some of these other prominent businesses who may not pay their business licenses.

GEORGE BUSH IS DOING the best he can. It's just a shame that the folks who elected him didn't know that he is not the sharpest tool in the shed.

MY GRANDSON AND I would like to know when illegal immigrants became aliens. We thought aliens were from outer space.

THE CSRA has some of the most rude, inconsiderate, unsafe and unskilled drivers I have ever seen.

RAVE FOR Park Ranger Roosevelt Pough at Cherokee Park in Lincolnton. I had lost a ring that was very valuable (to me), and he found it. The rave is not because he found the ring, but because he displayed such honesty and integrity by returning it!

GEORGIA'S GOVERNMENT has a $600,000,000.00 tax surplus. Way too much. Clearly, taxes are too high.

SOMETHING HAS TO BE done about the emergency room at University Hospital. There are too many people utilizing it instead of a physician's office and causing people who really need to be seen for an emergency situation to have to wait.

FOR ALL THE DRIVERS in the CSRA area that drive without their lights on when it's raining or when it's getting dark: Isn't that the law?

A RAVE FOR Sen. Tommy Moore. He's good for what he's done for North Augusta and the people he represented.

OK, PARENTS, school is starting soon, so let's educate our children to move themselves and their belongings out of the way of oncoming cars while waiting at the bus stop. While we're at it, let's remind ourselves that the streets are already congested with kids and don't need both sides of the street clogged with cars with your children inside. If you can let them run the streets all summer, then they can certainly withstand the elements for 10 minutes while waiting for the bus.

University Hospital ER is no

University Hospital ER is no different from any other ER. The doctors offices want payment up front, the ER does not. The ER's have become just a 24/7 clinic that may actually see a true emergency during a shift.

For the person that dislikes

For the person that dislikes the CSRA driving techniques. You must be new here. It took me three years to figure out the CSRA technique. Try keeping the words "absurd" and "defensive" in mind at all times. It helps until you figure out the local "tricks of the road".

When Bush ran for office, we

When Bush ran for office, we didn't have the choice of every tool in the shed. He is as least twice as sharp as Gore and Kerry put together, so I guess from that perspective, he was the best choice.

As for the TV Channels in the

As for the TV Channels in the Augusta area! Why don't the knot head who doesnt know anything just drive by the stations. Newschannel 6 is on Reynolds Street in Augusta, Channel 26 is on Broadstreet in Augusta and Channel 12 is on Georgia Ave. in North Augusta. Further more I'm gona assume the knot head has cable tv and doesnt have sense enough to figure out that the network stations have designated cable channels that are different simply because it's CABLE!!!!!! Therefore the channel he watches on will not be the same as the freakin TV station!

Sorry just couldnt resist elaborating on such a idiotic comment!

Would you blatantly throw a styrofoam cup or paperbag from your vehicle window? No? Then keep your lit (and unlit) cigarette butts to yourself. Littering is littering, no matter how large or small the object.

LA traffic reminds me of an

LA traffic reminds me of an insane and confused version of 285 rush hour traffic. Medium/small city of Augusta is just plain tricky. Nothing a good driver can't get used to, just tricky. I hear D.C. driving is a lot like driving in Italy. I've never tried either, so I wouldn't know. The tv version is scary though.

Did anyone see the editorial

Did anyone see the editorial about bringing a second major airport to Georgia? If it happens that Chattanooga does get it, would anyone really be surprised? I mean so what if Tennessee gets the additional jobs, revenue, and taxes. You have the I-20 corridor for GA and SC travellers and an almost Interstate in I-520 insteads of the back roads you have to take to get to Columbia Airport. Augusta would be a great place to put it, especially if it means that we would actually get Delta flights here instead of lame old ASA. Of course putting a second major GEORGIA airport in the state's 2nd largest city would make sense, which is why it will never happen.

Cinncinati's airport is in

Cinncinati's airport is in Kentucky. NYC third airport is in New Jersey. Chicago's main airport is in Rosemont. Chicago's third airport is in Gary, Indiana. Los Angelos second airport is in Ontario. San Fransico's second airport is in San Jose. Chattanooga is 90 minutes from I 285. Augusta us 2 hours from I 285. Get real. I have run across many people from the north side of I 20 in Atlanta that regularly use Chattanooga instead of messing with Atlanta Hartsfield. To some in northern Atlants, Chattanooga is actually closer.

what's the difference between

what's the difference between the bus stop and the streets they play in? If you want to keep an eye on them that's fine as long as you are on foot and not in your car blocking traffic that has to be somewhere besides waiting on a bus.

Just FYI, the reason that you

Just FYI, the reason that you will never see a Channel 6 on the #6 Cable dial is because the tuner acts as a mini antenna also. This would then show up as a double picture on your screen and cause something called signal degradation. This is true for all TV Channel numbers that are on Cable. Speaking of a Channel 6, being 6 (and only 6) it also emanates an FM audio signal, meaning that Channel sixes everywhere have somewhat of a promotional advantage over other channel numbers.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...the

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...the channel 6 channel 12 rant is hilarious! Some people...lol. Would you even pick up the phone to call in that rant? Nice try Mgroothand but I'm afraid it needs to be a little simpler for this person...So just say, "If you didn't have cable you would see channel 12 on 12 and 6 on 6." God, if that were only the worst thing we had to worry about.

Pat, you really think Bush is smarter than Gore and Kerry put together? I mean, come on. I don't think any of them are geniuses, but Bush? Smart? Determined maybe. Hard headed, yes. Folksy, sure. But smart? Get outta here. <:o)~

You say Bush isn't the sharpest tool in the shed? Bush not smart? Twice elected as Governor of one of the largest states in the union, twice elected President of the most powerful nation in the world, and has kept your butt safe for six years now. He s also smart enough not tto let the left bug him and flips them the finger as a President should. MaybeYOU ain't the smartest tool in the shed if you don't realize this. GAgirl, your posts prove daily how smart you ain't. Just one of the DIMocRAT sheeple.

As for CSRA drivers,

As for CSRA drivers, especially Augustans, I am convinced they ain't smart enough to use a turn signla. Supposedly the second largest city in the state of GA, yet does not have student drivers courses in high school. Same comment for CC in that they have Spanish vice student driving in high school. This would lower YOUR insurance costs conssiderably.

To those who rant about

To those who rant about drivers in the CSRA. You just have to drive defensively. That means drive a tank :). Drivers in Augusta are no worse than any other big city. NY, DC. Boston, Naptown, St Louis/ Hotlanta, etc ad nauseum. Bad inconsiderate stupid drivers come in all sizes, sexes, races, and geographical localities. Try driving in Seoul, Nurnberg, Munich, or Frankfort some time. Take the BJE, remove all speed limits and add twice the cars and you'll have an Autobon. In Seoul you have to watch out for Kimchi Cabs because they know only three parts of the car. the steering wheel, the gas pedal and the horn. good Luck
