Rants and raves

  • Follow Metro

Comments from our readers:

WE HAD SOME limbs cut from our front yard, and the workers cut all of the limbs within regulation size for our trash selection and placed everything over the fence with the limbs. We received a notice that said that all the limbs must be separated from the tree itself. This is totally ridiculous. The next thing you know they will want a red bow tied around the limb. We pay taxes so people can come by and we can bow down to their knees. I hope nobody else experiences this problem. My husband is 77 years old and has been out there trying to separate the limbs from the tree.

THIS IS A RANT for the Richmond County schools. They sent us a letter last week telling us that we could transfer our son to a different high school because his did not make adequate yearly process. My son graduated in May. No wonder they are at the bottom of the list nationally.

THIS IS RAVE for the Appleby Branch Library staff. Your encouragement, your friendliness and your thoroughness are much appreciated. The PINES library system is impressive, and it takes people to make it feel like home. Your staff is patient and awesome. Thank you to Ms. Kathy, Ms. Betty, Ms. Nicole, Ms. Sharon and Ms. Kendra. Thank you for all you do.

THIS IS TO THE comment about Michael Vick. I don't know why everybody keeps saying pull his merchandise from the shelf and suspend him. He has not been proven guilty yet. Once it all comes out and he is proven innocent, then maybe all the big-mouth people will keep their mouths shut.

THIS IS A RANT against Augusta. I am very disappointed that no one has done anything to honor the Augusta Spartans football team for winning the championship game. I bet if it had been the Augusta Lynx or the GreenJackets there would be celebrations all over the place. Once again, Augusta shows its true colors.

Few people care about the

Few people care about the Augusta Spartans, but when Michael Vick takes over as quarterback, they'll get plenty of attention.

I believe Micheal Vick is just as innocent as OJ Simpson and they both should be in prison from now till Hell freezes over.

They found all those poor

They found all those poor dogs (dead and alive) at his house in Virginia. Don't tell me he didn't know what was going on! People who do things to harm animals don't have souls as far as I'm concerned. I nearly got hit by a tree limb one night in a severe thunderstorm trying to cover up my rabbit pen. And he calls himself a animal lover?

eeMaybe as a punishment (if he's found guilty) he and his cousin should be forced to fight to the death, the same way their poor dogs did. And the loser be put to death too for good measure! I know that's a little harsh, but this just [filtered word] me off. Both my daugthers had pitbulls and they're a really good dog if you raise them to be good. One of them had a pit named Diesel (125lb) who was just like a BIG baby! You'd sit on the couch and here he comes right in your lap! Won the tail wagging competition at Westmunster in Aiken one year! A friend of hers begged her to sell her the dog for her little girl. She used to ride him like a horse when she was smaller and he's even got a saddle! Pretty cool dog and she's one protected little girl.

Vick may not have been proven

Vick may not have been proven guilty, but he is damaged goods. He has taken his potential to be a positive role model and squandered it. He may not be guilty, but since the government had enough evidence to get an indictment, it doesn't look good for him. I don't know all the facts, none of us here do, but I find it hard to believe he didn't know what was going on. This was a huge operation, and he owned the house. In the eyes of the public, appearance is everything.

Key thing to remember with

Key thing to remember with Vick is even if he acted as just the landlord for that property, he can still be held liable for criminal activity that took place there. If the State can prove he had knowledge, or should have had reasonable knowledge of the criminal activities (such as prove he was physically there and even aware of the number of dogs there), then his level of responsibility dramatically increases. His guilty or not guilty status isn't as clean cut as whether or not he physically participated in harming an animal. Even if he can prove he had absolutely no knowledge and was never there, he still failed to ensure the property he owed was not used for illegal activity, which although a lesser charge could cost him. Let this serve as a stern warning for all landlords, don't let your property be used for illegal activities as whether you committ the same crime or not, it could cost you!

The Augusta Spartans was to have a day of celebration saturday at the Augusta Commons but it was rained out. It was Mother Natures fault, not Mr Charlies.

If the Augusta Spartans were

If the Augusta Spartans were to have a day of celebration where was the public announcement. We went to every game at home and they were absolutely fantastic. Another thing, if the celebration was rained out then why not reschedule. If it had been any other team it certainly would be. You know with the publicity the other teams get its no wonder the Augusta Spartans have to really fight for just a couple minutes. Also it's no wonder the Stallions went down.

Thanks for the link to the

Thanks for the link to the indictment. All I can say is Disgusting! I also think Vick is facing a true uphill battle from this one as it would be very hard to prove he had no knowledge or involvement for as many years as this reportedly was happening on property he owned and frequented. I don't see this one going through a full trial. His best bet, unless he has some miracle alibi, is to take a plea deal.

I would like to apologize to

I would like to apologize to Bubba and all the Spartans for the way the Augusta people have treated their championship. They got no recognizion for doing such a fine job and playing such fantastic football. I just think that the Augusta people have forgotten that no matter what sport it is when you play the way the Spartans have played this year there should have been some sort of recognicion. I feel that the Augusta people owe the Spartans some sort of apology. sorry for some of the misspellings.

Why have a trial? According to all of you LEGA EXPERTS, he is guilty. Another thing, why do OJ name keep coming up on this site. Not once have any of you compared him to ROBERT BLAKE.

By the way HONEST, What is Vick' s record? Please do not cite the fact that he gave some abusive, drunken fans the finger.

In March 2005 a woman named Sonya Elliott filed a civil lawsuit against Vick"Ron Mexico" alleging she contracted genital herpes from Vick and that he failed to inform her that he had the disease.Vick made an obscene gesture at Atlanta fans, holding up two middle fingers. You are right , it was mostly his brother that has had all of the legal trouble.....
