A Monday story about a federal radiation study should have made clear that the average annual dose for most people is 360 millirem. According to the study, a hypothetical person living in Jackson, S.C., near Savannah River Site would have had an additional 25 millirem each year between 1955 and 1992.

Up to 5,000 millirem are allowed annually for a power plant worker.
