WHERE: Savannah River near 10th Street

WHAT: A shopping cart is submerged in the Savannah River

WHO’S RESPONSIBLE: Items in the river are the responsibility of the Savannah Riverkeeper

ACTION PROMISED: The Savannah Riverkeeper could not be reached by phone but Darrell Bennett, the operations supervisor for Augusta’s Parks and Recreation, said he would send employees to clear the cart from the river.

“I’m sending some of my people to check it out this afternoon,” Bennett said Friday. “The parks and rec doesn’t own a boat, but we’ll do our best to get it out by land.”

If Parks and Recreation is unable to remove the cart by land, the Savannah Riverkeeper has a boat and will have to be contacted.

If its the one off the end of

If its the one off the end of the dock at the Museum of Art if no one wants to get their hands dirty give me 15 min. and I'll put it with the rest of the trash pile at the end of ninth street on the other side of the levee. If you want to see something that will break your heart look at the Japanese Friendship garden just a little bit up the river walk. If you ask me The City treats public property like Slum lords. Nothing gets maintained .

Seems to me like the time and resources it took to send someone out to take a picture of this could've been better spent bringing a rope with you and dragging the thing out yourself. Would've taken, what, 5 minutes of work?

Process this photo

Crop it a bit, enhance the color, project resulting image onto a rectangular piece of cloth and it will become the flag of the Augusta-Richmond County Commission. It is a fitting symbol of what those clowns are doing to our city.

They will probably need a "study" first & then wait 6 months to mull things over.

That pic didn't take too long to snap. It's clearly from a phone. Kind of like the one the other week that was clearly from instagram with the photogs finger in the corner!

Again, though is this "mess" really the first mess we need to clean up in Augusta? I am sure there are at least 5 within 2 miles of The Chronicles offices that are more dire than this!
