An Augusta native will become the new president and CEO of the Georgia Hospital Association, the group announced Friday.

Earl V. Rogers, GHA’s senior vice president for government relations, will succeed the retiring Joseph Parker on July 1, GHA’s Board of Trustees announced. Parker had been president and CEO since 1986. Rogers “was, by far, the best choice to take GHA to the next level,” William Moore, the board chairman and CEO of Atlanta Medical Center, said in a statement from GHA.

Rogers hails from Augusta and is a 1976 graduate of the University of Georgia. He had previously done legislative affairs for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and Georgia Power, the group said in a statement.
