Only six votes were cast during the first day of early voting for the November general and special election.
Elections set in Richmond County this Nov. 5 are municipal races in Hephzibah and Blythe and a special election to fill the House District 127 post open since the Aug. 2 death of Rep. Quincy Murphy. Three candidates – Dianne Murphy, Diane B. Evans and Brian Prince – have qualified to run to complete the year remaining in the legislator’s term.
Monday was also the last day to register to vote in the elections. Early voting, in-person and by mail, will continue through Nov. 1, with Saturday voting scheduled Oct. 26.
The only location open for early voting for this election cycle will be the Board of Elections Main Office at 530 Greene St., Room 104.
