ATLANTA — U.S. Senate hopeful Michelle Nunn plans a two-week, 10-city tour around Georgia as Democrats try to reclaim Saxby Chambliss’s seat in 2014.

The Republican senator is retiring, and national Democrats say it’s their best shot at picking up a GOP seat.

Nunn is scheduled to appear Wednesday in Macon, with stops later this week in Columbus, Albany and Valdosta. Next week, she’ll visit Savannah, Augusta, Athens, Rome and Dalton.

The final stop is Atlanta, where she lives and works as CEO of a national volunteer organization started by former President George H.W. Bush, a Republican.

The Nunn campaign says the 47-year-old candidate will travel in her minivan with her husband and two children. Nunn’s father served 24 years in the Senate, but this is her first run for office.

why

why would anyone run as a democrat. She has to be pro-death and anti-family and think government is the solution to all problems and God needs to be eliminated from everything. That's what you say when you run as or state you are a democrat because that is what they stand for at all times.

She's GOT to be kidding.

She's GOT to be kidding. After the mess the Democratic Party has created over the past five years, this is a VERY sick joke...

I'm surprised ole Sam had pretty much left the democrat party when he hung it up. He could see that the Marxists, socialists and communists taking over the party.

She brings nothing - nothing - to the table.

"My accomplishments, in addition to my last name, and my qualifications for political office and experience consist of....um...well...."
(sound of crickets chirping)

I thought we abolished hereditary political offices in 1776?
She is only running because of her last name, a/k/a being a member of the Lucky Sperm Club.

The GOP is laughable

Why anyone would vote GOP after the criminally disastrous last two GOP presidential failures, and the damage done to Georgia by the current and previous GOP crook governors, is beyond me. Nunn is the best choice.

Nunn credit for his conservatism from the left side of the aisle. His daughter, though I know nothing about her other than she's a democrat, is going to bring the NOW perspective, as most women do. I cannot agree with democrats on any level.

Someone buy her a Che Guevara T-shirt

Someone buy her a Che Guevara T-shirt to wear at debates. What a misguided young lady who got lost in the transition of Georgia politics to the Republican Party.

Yeah! Let's all get together and give

OzBama one more rubber stamp in the Senate.

It should be interesting to hear from Dems who gave Palin such a hard time for being "unaccomplished".

Seems the only accomplishment required of a Democrat to run for office is ....

You gotta BE A DEMOCRAT!
