Comments from readers:

RAVE TO OUR President Obama. He is our president, and you can’t do anything about it. God put him there.

TWO OF PRESIDENT Obama’s greatest accomplishments? He has made Nixon look like the paragon of truth and Jimmy Carter look like a financial genius.

PRESIDENT OBAMA DID not divide this country. The racist Republicans divided this country. Open your eyes, please.

I HAVE NO DOUBT that Obama will use Superstorm Sandy to his advantage in some way or another.

I AM AMAZED AT how many middle class people vote against their interests and vote for Mitt Romney because of their hate instead of their love for this country.

THE NATIONAL Pro-Life Alliance reports that U.S. Rep. John Barrow “voted not once – not twice – but four times for taxpayer funding of abortion.”

WE NEED JOHN BARROW to stay in there. He should have supported our president more, but having him speak out for us most of the time at least is better than Lee Anderson refusing to speak.

FOR ALL WHO believe President Obama has caused race relations to sour, I must say I respectfully disagree. In my short time in this city, I have witnessed more racism and hatred than any city I’ve had the opportunity to live in previously.

A VOTE FOR BARROW IS a vote for Obama. Vote Anderson whether he’ll debate or not.

REPUBLICANS PUSHING for Democrat John Barrow tell us that Lee Anderson will be a rubber-stamp congressman. They are right. He will rubber stamp Romney, Ryan, Cantor, Boehner, et al. Good for Lee Anderson!

WE CANNOT MOVE our country forward by following the same failed Democratic policies that got us into this mess in the first place. We had a growing economy until the Democrats gained control of Congress after the 2006 elections.

SORRY, DR. JOHN Barge. Competition is exactly what our education system needs.

Rant to the BIASED Augusta Chronicle
Unpublished

The chronicle is so biased that it didn't even pick up a very important news story that shows how unethical Mitt Romney actually is. On October 29, 2012, the Bloomberg news channel reported that a review of Mitt Romney's tax returns showed that he did not pay income taxes for years prior to his runs for the White House. Romney set up a legal trust in which he gave money to the Mormon Church. These trusts were made illegal several years ago, but Romney's trust is allowed to stand because his was grandfathered in under the old laws. The trust really does not benefit the Mormon Church. In fact, it is set up so that Romney receives income from it and less and less is in it for the church to benefit from each year. The whole point of the trust is yo give Romney as much of the money he puts into it as possible and leave as little as possible for the church. Basically, Romney benefits from yet another tax shelter (i.e. a legal form of tax evasion) that many rich people in the US could once take advantage of as well. Romney did nothing illegal-- but it certainly unethical to give to charity in order to effectively launder your money so you can have it tax free. This is money laundering-- legal or not-- and it allows Romney to avoid paying his fair share of taxes.

"Yes, just like guns kill
Unpublished

"Yes, just like guns kill people."

Now, people DO kill people. That much is true. It has always been true, before we even had tools. Before we were even people. And that killing truth is indeed part of the problem. Humanity is persistently inconsistent and complex, even in the reasons we kill: desperation, survival, anger or accident, to name a few of the big ones. Insanity, to name the currently most relevant one. Bottom line, though, is that many of us are killers. It's what half of the above saying means: Human nature is deeply intertwined with violence and killing, and we as a species need to evolve past that in order to move forward into the vast playground of the Universe.

Yes, people kill people, and that is terrible. But guns? Guns also kill people. The first gunpowder weapon to exist is the fire lance, and it was created by the Chinese around the 12th century. The first description of their use was in the Shou Cheng Lu, an account of the siege of De An in 1132. It describes the Song forces using fire lances against the Jurchens, presumably because they were such jerk-ens. Since the beginning, guns were invented by the people, for the people, to kill the people. They puncture your flesh until you die. That's what they're for. Yes, guns can also be used for hunting, or maybe for nope just hunting. Killing people, and killing animals. Guns don't do anything other than kill. Guns kill. That's, like, the WHOLE point.

And if you willingly admit that you own your firearm for self-defense, then you are living with and admitting you live with the assumption that at some point you may have to resort to a method of defending yourself that is lethal in most cases. Not a disabling method, not even a scare tactic - owning a gun and being prepared to draw it on an attacker means you're willing to use it to end a life, and that's that.

"A VOTE FOR BARROW IS a vote for Obama. Vote Anderson whether he’ll debate or not."

Is their anyone who can tell us why the NRA endorsed John Barrow over Lee Anderson?

Will John shoot Lee's tractor with his daddy's 30.06 and put it out of our misery?

You said "Now, people DO kill people. That much is true. It has always been true, before we even had tools. Before we were even people"

Still reading posts, but did you say people were killing people, before they were people? What? Do you comprehend the insanity of such a statement? Somebody had to be a people for people to kill. And somebody else had to be a people to be killed. It's crazy, I know, but if there were no people. people didn't exist to kill people who didn't exist.

I don't smoke pot, but feel like if I did smoke a joint, I could ponder this post. You know, sitting in the corner of a room, a little spaced out, but considering that whole universal existential spacial continuem.

Hey dude, you gonna eat that? Yea let's go vote, or something. Are you feeling the buzz?

Unbelievable. God saves us, everyone!

You are assuming a lot here. Are you saying that it is ok then for the only one to have weapons are the attackers? That if you are attacked you should just go down quietly and let them hurt or kill you?

Are you saying that if you have a wife or husband or child and they are being attacked you would stand idly by and just let them hurt/kill them?

Just what are you saying? Having a weapon for your own protection is a whole different ballgame then going forth to do harm with one.

GOD & Elections boiled down

Some proudly use GOD as a foundation to their political platform.

Some quietly sneaked GOD in to their political platform to appease of some of their voters as an after thought.

A few become lawsuit crazy at the mention of GOD anywhere.

GOD allows Man to make mistakes, it is just how he runs things.

Too many times voters and countries have turned their backs on GOD true requirements of Man.

When they did, they received leaders that were worthy of that mistake.

Just look at the history of the last 100 years for example after example of societies where GOD was minimized, the resulting Leaders and the millions killed in each case.

CobaltGeorge - You are correct

A lot is riding on this election.
It is not a white vs. black Election as they push it for votes.

I feel it is 2 diametrically opposed forms of Political Government.

Socialism vs. Freedom that are fighting today.

Remember Peace is delivered 55gr at a time.

Fools_and_sages....... Please explain how it is unethical to follow the tax laws to the letter. Is it unethical for me to take advantage of the deductions and exemptions that were written into the law? If is IS ethical, then at what point does it become unethical....you need to let everyone know so that we can live to your standards.

RA....you are right. Minorities in Augusta have their rights walked on quite frequently. Case in point, most companies who have Affirmative Action plans only make efforts to ensure that Blacks represented. They totally neglect the minorities in Augusta, which per the 2008 Census, happen to be White. But I don't see any outcry from you about that. Why is that?
