Forum tonight for commission, school board candidates

West Augusta Alliance, a neighborhood association representing west Augusta neighborhoods, is hosting a Monday forum for candidates seeking the districts 1, 3 and 7 Augusta commission posts and the District 1 Richmond County Board of Education seat in the Nov. 6 general election.

According to a news release, the forum will start at 7 p.m. and will be held at Warren Road Gym, 300 Warren Road.

The District 1 commission seat has four candidates: incumbent Matt Aitken and challengers Bill Fennoy, Thelonious Jones and Denice Traina. Mary Davis and Ed Enoch are seeking the District 3 commission post while Donnie Smith and Ken Echols are running for District 7.

Two candidates, incumbent Marion Barnes and Lucien Williams, are seeking the District 1 school board post.

Hasn't Marion Barnes been on the school board long enough? Give somebody else a chance.

Matt Aitken has declined this invitation. Wonder if he knows that Old Towne belongs to this alliance? Bad move there Mr. Aitken!

Also. Cleveland O'steen was left out as a District Three candidate and Stanley Hawes as a District One Candidate. Hopefully the AC will correct this in this on line article.
