Lincoln passes alcohol measures

LINCOLNTON, Ga. -- In Lincoln County on Tuesday voters approved both Sunday sales of alcohol by the drink as well as Sunday alcohol package sales. By-the-drink sales passed 1,520 to 1,244, and package sales were approved 1,526 to 1,244.

Lincoln County Sheriff Gerald Lawson held his seat against GOP challenger Mike Arrington 1,287 to 945 and will face Democrat Bruce Beggs in November.

In contested County Commission races, GOP incumbent Wade Johnson beat Earnest R. Doss Jr. 1,136 to 1,078 for chairman. In District 3 incumbent Cooper Cliatt defeated Maurice W. Cadden 326 to 91. And challenger Richard Brown topped incumbent Arthur Robinson 482 to 280 in County Commisson District 4.

The T-SPLOST measure was defeated in Lincoln County 1,403 to 1,283.
