Augusta business owner Don Grantham was elected chairman of the State Transportation Board, the policy-making and governing authority of the Georgia Department of Transportation, according to a news release.

Grantham, elected Friday, is a former member of the Augusta Commission. He represents District 12 and served the past year as the transportation board’s vice chairman. He replaces outgoing chairman Jay Shaw.

Emily Dunn, of Blue Ridge, was elected vice chairwoman, and Robert Brown, of Decatur, was voted secretary.

The 14 members of the State Transportation Board serve one-year terms.

Congratulations Don!! See that we get our fair share.
This is great for Augusta because we have been underrepresented
at the state level too long, especially chairmanships.

Calhoun Expressway

I'll bet Commissioner Lockett now wishes he had been more willing to work with Grantham as a commissioner. Maybe he could have gotten the Calhoun Expressway project done. In politics, payback is HELL.
